My Father
Fernando Gonzalez was born
in Costa Rica in a small city called Alajuela in 1939, he was the
youngest son of a numerous family, eleven brothers and sisters.
Because of their difficult situation,
he started working at a very young age helping his father as a
clothier but it is when he discovered his passion with some paper
and pencil that would be his close friends during his teen years.
His name rapidly became well known
around the city and was called by the biggest advertising company in
the country for a trial, since then, he dedicated more than 40 years
of his life combining his passion for painting with working at
several advertising companies of Costa Rica as an art director,
until the early 1990 when he recognizes that -the computer- as he
calls it, replaced him from his job. Since then he has dedicated
full time painting and running his own art gallery in the small city of
Heredia.

He is one of the most recognized
painters of Costa Rica and has been awarded several times for his
paintings as for his work in the advertising world.
Now a days I want to help my father
recover through the internet what once technology took away from him,
and I have decided to help him share his work with people all around
the world.

This a 1975 paper cut with a picture
of the painting - La Ventana (The window) -
that won the first prize of an art
exhibition organized by ASCAP which is the
Costa Rican Association of Advertizing
Companies.

My Self
Hello My name is Luis F.
Gonzalez and I live in a small city in Costa Rica named Barva. Very
well known as the city of the clown masks (please see them below).
This is because there is a tradition of making the best masks of the
country.

Today I work in the Information
Technology field but my dream is to be able to dedicated my self to
full time woodturning, and combine my knowledge in IT to help me
sell my items through the Internet all around the world.
I started working with wood
since I was a little boy when I helped my grandfather in his shop as
a cabinet maker. I would help him in summer time and most days after
school.
I have always liked working
with wood, but recently I bought my self a lathe and started making
crochet hooks and hair sticks. I found out that I could sell them on
ebay, Great!!!
I will be also selling in the
store all type of crafts made in Costa Rica of several artists
friends. I think you will find them very interesting.
