Venus is a multi-media artist from Texas.
She is a Painter, Poet, Actress, Model, Dancer and Musician.
She has been involved in arts and entertainment for most of her life. Influenced by her grandfather, actor/musician Rusty Lee (Raising Arizona, Young Guns, Gunsmoke...), she studied ballet, tap dancing, poetry and clarinet as a young girl and won her first award for art at age 12. By the time she was in high school she was performing as a clarinetist, a jazz dancer, an actress and also began modeling. Her love for poetry and art led her to pursue Museum Studies and Literary Analysis in college at The University of Texas.
Venus's poetry has been published in literary journals around the world. She has won a number of awards for poetry including include 2 Editor's Choice Awards For Outstanding Achievement in Poetry and Best Poems and Poets of 2005.
Her return to acting and modeling as other expressive art forms in 2003 has gained her dozens of credits for performing arts in everything from musical theater to commercials and feature films. But it is her love for painting that is at the heart of her artistic pursuits.
As an artist, Venus has enjoyed experimental art with influences of impressionism, expressionism, surrealism and cubism. She describes her art as "poetically influenced" and often incorporates text into her paintings. Her mediums include acrylic, collage, oil pastel, colored chalk and oil on paper and canvas. Her unique expressive style led her to be included in an all female group art exhibition at The Revolution Gallery in Dallas in May 2006.Venus is a self taught artist and has painted approximately 500 paintings since 2004. Her paintings are held in private collections across the United States.
