"Starbearies" are unique, one of a kind artist teddy bears created by Kim Laramee. Each bear is professionally and meticulously hand crafted with care, thought, precision, lots of attention to detail, imagination, and love. Kim's bears are created from her own patterns. She uses high quality German mohair and plush synthetic furs. Each bear is carefully hand-stitched with tiny, thoughtful stitches and lots of love. She joints them using traditional cotter pins and discs. Her bears have a wonderful, heavy heft with lots of steel shot (that is contained in a strong nylon pillow) in their tummies, and well-packed, high quality polyfil. You'll know when you're holding one of her creations in your arms!

Kim pays particular attention to her bears' faces, spending lots of time bringing their sweet expressions to life. She uses a variety of methods such as scissor sculpting or plucking, thread sculpting their muzzles, deep set eyes, and smiles. Air brushing is added to deepen their expressions and add dimension to their paws. Kim also adds loving touches to her finished bears, such as a hand knitted sweater, a beautiful necklace she designed from gorgeous beads, or a striking silk ribbon tied in a bow around their necks.

Each of Kim's bears are inspired by the world around her, anything from the slow change of seasons, to a strange dream, a piece of luscious fabric or beautiful fiber. She considers each bear a unique piece of art, a gift of time, love, and inspiration. Each bear has its own originality, and because of this Kim never uses the same name for her bears more than once. Kim signs each bear's left paw with a tiny signature and date (the same signature she uses for her paintings). Each bear also has a Starbearies hang tag with the bear's name, month and year of creation, and her full signature.

Starbearies are available for adoption on e-bay and through the Starbearies web site. "About Me" I started creating and designing teddy bears almost three years ago. My story begins when I started selling my paintings on e-bay. I have been painting, sewing, knitting, and writing ever since I can remember. I stumbled across artist teddy bears one evening while browsing e-bay, and absolutely fell in love. I sketched out a pattern, bought bear supplies, and thoroughly enjoy bringing each and every bear to life. I haven't looked back since....

I recently moved to a little cottage on a lake in Ontario, Canada. My little family consists of a little, black Labrador named Reba dog, and a bigger lab named Noro.
