Seller Location ~ Snyder County, PA
I have a lot of fun selling on e-bay, but I also take it very seriously. I treat customers very honestly and fairly. I like to sell just about anything on ebay that I think someone might want.
You never know what you may find in my listings....
I offer a lot of antiques or primitive collectibles I find on my rounds to local estate sales, farms and markets here in rural Pennsylvania. Some come from my personal collection of things I inherited from my grandparents. If I know the provenence of an item, I always mention it in the listing. If it's a more substantial or rare item, I can usually provide proof of the origins of an item if it is known to me.

I am 10th generation PA Dutch on both sides of my family.
I was raised with my grandparents on a self-sufficient farmstead surrounded by primitive methods of raising and storing foods, traditional hand-crafts, and woodworking, farming and butchering. The depression era mentality was alive and well in our family. I took an interest in the history of the things my grandparents hoarded, and learned the reasons they valued the things they did, and how to be innovative with the things at hand. What most now regard as antiques and primitives were still put to good use on our farmstead until my grandfather's passing at age 91 in 1995.
Locally, we have the oldest order of Amish alongside various orders of Mennonites, but PA Dutch Germans are not necessarily Amish. The Pennsylvania Dutch (German) culture outside of the more obvious Brethren faiths remains largely unexplored, unexplained, and unidentified, even to itself.

I take commission on Birth and Wedding announcements or other custom work.
Here's an example of a Pennsylvania Dutch Powwow chant in Fraktur...

In the "old days", before doctors came along, PA Dutch faith healers provided natural remedies to heal sickness along-side rituals to "influence outcomes". The PA Dutch term for this is "Braucherei".
Folks compared the practices to those of the Native Americans, so the term "Pow-wow" stuck. It is a Pagan practice made acceptable by inserting Christian references, and mostly dismissed as superstition today and there are very few genuine practitioners. Many folkish traditions are only subtly imbued in the PA Dutch culture.
I also design original Hex signs for display on local barns to protect livestock from "hexing".
I've begun (albeit, slowly!) a series of paintings based on Pennsylvania Dutch nicknames given to me as a child. These works attempt to convey wistful sentiments of my personal experiences as an excessively imaginative child isolated not only geograhically, but in and of myself in the distinctly stoic culture that is my own.
"The Life and Times of Stroobley Blatherskeit"
"Stroobley Blatherskeit", loosely translated, means "messy-haired blabbermouth."

About the artist..
In high school, everyone knew me as the resident artist. I spent most of my crummy teen years living in the art room, frightening everyone with too much creative energy.I learned my techniques through instinct and a good dose of trial and error, and I experiment with various mediums and subjects. I feel this approach makes creating art interesting and challenging for me.
I had technical training in a Commercial Art Program and won several awards before graduating high school.Although I enjoy graphic design, and can provide web formats of digital photography and a variety of graphic art work, the technical discipline along with my stoic upbringing tends to put me in a kind of box from which I struggle to get out. I have a ken for the Avant-garde. This will make itself known more as I learn to farm my eccentricities.
In 2001, I spent a year on the Eastern Shore of Virginia photographing and painting seascapes and Birds, a distinct contrast to the mountains and scenery in central PA...

Please contact me with any questions! I'd love to hear from you!
Thank you for taking the time!
