I discovered the world of eBay in 2008, and immediately got hooked on the aceo art happenings. This great group of people who work in small format art, introduced me to a wonderful way to share my passion for fine art. Since then, I've been striving to create as many works of art - from aceo to full sized - as I can. I also have come to enjoy the miniature art world. You can run a search on The Association of Miniature Artists (AMA) if you'd like to learn more about this amazing genre. You can visit my blog at www (dot) ArtshticksCorner (dot) Blogspot (dot) com to see a daily journal of what I have been creating, or my website at www (dot) DebKArt (dot) com.!
For the last 30 years, I've been doing commissioned works of art for friends, family, realtors, and a custom puzzle company in VT called "Lucretia's Pieces." I've painted murals, shelf sitters of new homes, dragons, and just about every subject you can imagine. My favorite medium is acrylic, and I often use artist pens or colored pencil to add more detail to my acrylic paintings. My first love was graphite, and I also enjoy working in watercolor. Oils, egg tempera and pastels are media I have the joy of working with on occasion as well.
I have exhibited in various galleries across the country. Local ones are The Ice House in Washington, VA, Fells Point in Baltimore, Gallery 222 in Northern VA. I have also participated in several art shows, including Art at the Mill in Millwood and Art in the Foothills in Bluemont, VA. I'm the proud winner of several awards and I'm happy to say that each show has been a wonderful learning experience. I feel like I'm growing each day as an artist.
I live in Northern VA, and have since 1997. We've found our latitude in VA. Anymore, it's too cold north of here, and too humid south of here.
Besides fine arts, my hobbies include reading, cooking, working out at the gym because I'm trying to cheat death by a few years - not because I like it, and just about any outdoor activity I can do with my 3 teen kids. We love to go letterboxing (check out letterboxing dot org if you don't know what that is) and biking, hiking, power walking/jogging, fishing (though we rarely catch anything).
