ATKINS MUSIC CENTER
Hi, I am Denise
Atkins Music Center opened as Atkins Piano Store in Connellsville, PA in 1949. Because of expansion, the store moved 3 times until settling a 166 W. Crawford Avenue in 1960. In 1969, Mr. Atkins hired me as a part-time counter person. At the time, I knew very little about music. But with Mr. Atkins' patience and guidance, I became very knowledgeable in all aspects of music and musical instruments. I am not a musician, but I play one at work. When Mr. Atkins died in 1993, I bought the store from his widow, and have been running the show ever since. Currently, we are one of the oldest business still operating in Connellsville.
Over 50 Years of Accquired Stock
Over the years the music industry has changed considerably, and we've kept up with those changes. From 78 rpms to DVD's, we have been there for all of the innovations. Sometimes the changes happened so fast that we were left with items that people in our area no longer had a need for. As a result, we have many, many hard to find vintage items. How many people still have record players? Heck most kids today don't even know what a record player looks like. Yet, I've got over 25,000 mint condition records that will never sell in my little part of Pennsylvania. Sooner or later I'll get around to listing my stock, but if you don't see something you are looking for email me, I may have it.
