Let me begin this "About Me" page by saying this would be more appropriately titled "About US"!

The "back porch" is a labor of love that began as a hobby. Restoring and selling vintage shabby chic and cottage furniture and decorative accessories has blossomed into a full time passion for both my husband and me.

My background is in interior design and I've also worked in the floral industry. This experience has given me the ability to create a charming, interesting and beautiful assortment of vintage chic cottage items. However, this has been a team effort and I could never have accomplished any of this without the help of my husband Bob. He is an expert furniture restorer and his talent guarantees that all of our items are restored properly and his careful packing makes certain that the items purchased from "the back porch" will arrive at your door in perfect condition.

We love the thrill of the "hunt". Finding those special items and turning them into shabby chic treasures..love taking the photos for the eBay listings and accessorizing the pieces to give my eBay customers decorating ideas. And, most of all I love answering your e-mailsI'm always happy to help my eBay customers with their home dor. Just send me an e-mail picture of your room and I would be happy to give you my input.

I also enjoy stepping "out of the box".using unique items full of charm, character and architectural detail in the home. Some of my favorite "finds" are antique shutters, ornate frames, vintage chests, old porch posts, antique headboards and charming old cottage chairs.

I just love creating "style in the home" and now thanks to eBay, having our own business together has been a "dream come true". And, how exciting it was to have our local newspaper feature our home in their "Interior Design" section. Imagine being recognized and complimented for the way we've decorated our home.it made us feel so thrilled!

Our dining room features an antique fireplace salvaged from an old mansion. It is flanked by two antique louvered shutters. Lots of shabby porch post candlesticks and antique clocks dress up the mantle. An ornate section of an old iron fence is our fireplace screen.

The guest room was inspired by a bed and breakfast we visitedcomplete with an antique bed, vintage end tables, another fireplace and a charming old dresser mirror.

In the laundry area we hung a cabana striped awning on the window, placed geraniums on the window sill and used two old cottage chairs. An antique coat tree stands in the corner!

In the family room an old window with tiny flower bouquets hangs over the fireplace, white birdhouses, finials, and porch post candlesticks are grouped on the mantle. Vintage rocking chairs, antique lamps and pitchers of fresh tulips enhance the cottage feeling. Bob transformed the "builders" modern fireplace using decorative moldings and appliqu, for a "French cottage look.

We brought the chic cottage look outside into our garden too! An old window complete with shutters, a window box and cottage curtains were mounted on the fence to create a cozy dining areaflowering vines and ivy climb up antique paneled shutters and an old wooden chair holds a pot of geraniums.

Our home pictured throughout this page shows many examples of the kinds of items we specialize in selling on eBay.

And, of course, almost everything is finished in white, soft buttercream or pale cottage green and distressed!

We have been selling on eBay since 2002 and still "lovin" every minute of it! We have found our passion in this endeavor and couldn't be happier.
