My name is Barbara A. Snyder, although I sign my paintings with my first and middle names, Barbara Ann. I come from a little town, Cressona, PA, who's only claim to fame is a huge Alcoa plant.
I guess I'm what you would call, a self taught artist, however, I prefer to think of it as a God given talent. I can't remember not being able to drawn or paint. Despite my abilities, it took me until late middle age to decide I'd try to sell my art, with the exception of a painting here and there for friends or acquaintances. Since discovering Ebay, I've begun a new chapter in my life and have made wonderful friends.
As a child, the only thing I had on my mind was horses, and I found a way to put one in every art related project I did. I drove my art teachers crazy. Dogs ran a close second. It is now reversed. I own four collies, two blue smooths, one sable rough, and one tri rough. They are my "boys". Painting collies and later shelties has become as natural to me as breathing. Occasionally I toss another breed in, to challenge myself, and have recently gone back to my roots, horses. I don't own any personally, but my daughter has Morgans, and they have become dear to my heart. Cats are my bugaboo(I have two), but I'm working on getting better with them.
Although I love oils for my paintings, my "other" art, is usually done in acrylics. My oil paintings are usually head and shoulders or some other pose which focuses on the face. I need to show the eyes and expression. That probably comes from showing and working with the collies where that expression is so important. My next goal is to teach myself watercolors. Thank you for viewing my art!
