Back to previous page  How e-Bay is helping me survive. this is me 3 years ago Hello and Welcome, my name is Jeanie. I would like to tell you how selling on the internet has saved my life. (I am not telling you this in order to get sympathy, I do not want or need any sympathy), What I do need is understanding). My life is very unusual right now. Even though I cannot do much my body is constantly tired and so I find myself asleep at the keyboard a lot. I know it has something to do with my body using high amounts of energy fighting constant pain. I have a hereditary disability that has taken my legs and is taking my hands/arms due to atrophy. When I lost the ability to care for myself I sank into severe depression. I was unable to work or be around others. I had a computer so I started playing on it and soon realized I wanted to try to bring in a little money to try to help my husband who has been working 2 jobs just to break even. At times I have done well and other times I haven't like most. The income I manage to get from listing on the internet help's us pay for my RX's each month. My goal is to try to earn enough to be able to pay for a housekeeper to come in and clean my home. It is no fun living in a dirty home and not being able to do anything about it. At times I find the being here on e-Bay is very stressful. I have had people report me to e-Bay on things that were not true and yet I paid for it by lost income. I think that some sellers request you to contact them prior to leaving negative feedback just so they can twist it into saying that you are threatening them. They would write something like: If you are unhappy with your purchase please contact us and give us the chance to make it right before leaving negative feedback.... But that isn't what they mean, what they are really saying is. Please contact me so that I can ask you what it would take to get positive feedback left instead of negative. If you respond to it they say you are bribing them but really they are bribing you. DO NOT RESPOND TO ANY SELLER THAT SAYS ANYTHING ABOUT FEEDBACK. FORWARD IT IMMEDIATELY TO E-BAY BEFORE YOU PAY FOR SOMETHING YOU DIDN'T DO LIKE I DID. Needless to say that seller has ruined it for a lot of us. I am sure I am not the only one that something like that happened to. Now if a seller has shipped me junk I don't e-mail them and give them the chance to put words in my mouth. I let them find out about the problem via negative feedback. I don't have to worry about them saying I was trying to bribe them that way. I am not that type of person. But, I WAS the type that wanted to give another an opportunity as they requested to make it right. Those type of people make me wish I had never found e-bay. Plus the e-Bay Police Patrol. Each one seems to have a different rule. Anyway,People can be very cruel. I try hard to follow e-bays rules no matter how hard they make it. One Christmas I listed a toy that had magnets in it. I checked the recall list and it was not on it but another model was. Since the one I had was not recalled I listed it. They pulled it and sent me a notice that I had done wrong. I called them and told them that they needed to recheck their information about the item. They apologized and told me to pit a specific sentence at the bottom of my listing so that it would not get pulled again. I did and then I relisted it. They pulled it again and I called in again. They said that they had decided to not allow that item on e-bay even though it was not one that was recalled. I have 2 stricks against me for that toy all because someone decided something without letting the rest of us know the exception to the rule. My life has to be pretty boring to put up with this kind of stress just to make enough money to pay for a housekeeper... LOL I am a very lucky woman. I have a loving husband that loves me very much. When I apologize to him for being tied down with me he says he is not tied down with me. He says that he lives to care for me and would not have it any other way. This is a very special man and I am very lucky to have him. I am very lucky. He brings me breakfast/lunch each morning in bed. Our home is not wheelchair accessible so I stay in our bedroom in bed almost all the time. My husband helps me get around each Sunday morning and we go out to breakfast and sometimes take a drive. It is very tiring for me so we don't do much. Unfortunately I also suffer with chronic pain and restless leg syndrome along with the Peripheral Neuropathy. I use a lot of energy fighting pain. If it wasn't for the internet I would not have any way to make any money and feel as if I am worth anything to society. I had always worked before I got bad.
