HI there, my name is Charla, how ya doing?This is basically a kinda chronological story of how I got to this point. I guess from looking at my jewelry you can tell that I am into shiny, bright pretty things, basically things that make you feel like no matter what kind of a day you are having you know that you look good and while that doesn make everything all better it sure helps a good bit. Lets face it, we live in a society that says is you aren 5and weigh 120lbs that you are not attractive, and they also try to tell us that we have to either be portyand oyishor igh maintenanceand a iva Why are they always trying to put us in a nice neat package? Why do they want to label us to the point of making us feel inferior if we don fit into the package? Well, Il tell ya a secret. I gave up caring about all that, why should I care what someone else thinks what I should look like? When it all over at the end of the day all we truly have are ourselves and our needs.

OK at this point youe wondering why I have brought all this up and probably questioning my sanity, I mean after all it IS just an Ebay auction. I went into that because it kinda explains why I have started making this jewelry. The first thirty years of my life were spent trying to deny things that I liked, when I was a small child my upbringing was to be strong and self supportive which is wonderful but my girly instincts were neglected, I had Star Wars toys instead of Barbies, you know that kinda thing, and as I became a teenager I was into being oolthe whole Joan Jett deal, I was in metal bands and didn dare wear anything that wasn tough, I was cute tho. Then a little later on I was into the early 80 punk skater scene where I could actually get away with some pink in my hair but that was the extent of it. Then my genetics kicked in and I started to put on some weight plus the whole Goth scene was up and running so of course most of my clothes were black. No room for rhinestones there, it just wouldn be ool

Well eventually I grew up (well sort of) and slowly but surely began to care less and less about the rules of how you define yourself and what your supposed to wear. I found myself buying clothes with colors that I had wanted to wear all along and dying my hair pretty colors(because I could get away with it at work) and I started to realize that all of those so called stereotypes are nothing but suffocating and pointless. Why shouldn someone like me who into ice hockey( go Devils!) and motocross and formula one raceing also be able to wear really pretty things even if they are a little out of place for the occasion? Why shouldn I be able to feel pretty any time I want? So a couple of years ago I started to make things that I would want to wear because they made me feel good and eventually I made so many that I thought that others may get the same effect and feel like I do when I wear a totaly glowing piece of jewelry. But it was time consuming and I do procrastinate, but as fate would have it (why is fate never good?) I lost my job a few weeks ago so I made the decision to put my sanity on the line and put my pieces out here for the world to see and hopefully buy.

I not a size 7(not even close) and I not a long legged martian freak of a super model but when I wear my pieces I feel like I have an ora around me that nobody can take away because knowing that I have the confidence to wear what I want when I want to not only makes me feel pretty outside but inside as well. I think it a package deal.

Now I don want anyone to get me wrong here, I not saying that every woman has this internal urge to be frilly and girly. In fact I know for a fact that some of us women feel perfectly wonderful with the opposite less maintenance approach and that wonderful also. It just all about taking the steps to being and doing and looking how you want to, and not letting anyone else dictate what you need inside.

So in a nutshell, for me it not just about people buying my jewelry so they can feel pretty it also important to me for women to realize how much power they have and ability to feel good about themselves.

Pretty heavy stuff for an Ebay auction huh? I know. I do tend to go on at times. Whether you get some of my pieces or not I hope that you are confident and happy with yourself. Life is too short to deny yourself of things that are so simple to obtain.

The Jewelry's the thing

I spend a good deal of my time looking for vintage beads and findings. Alot of flea markets and a lot of Ebaying, of course. For me the beads have to have something special about them, I guess you can call it having ifeto them. I also look for a lot of vintage Swarovski beads. These are getting harder and harder to find as people are starting to find out how incredibly cool they are. Most of my pieces will have some Swarovski in them, whether it be vintage or contemporary. I just don think that any other line of beads can match Swarovski quality and flash, and I do like flash!

Il usually spend a day thinking up designs and then a day or two making them. I am always open for requests and suggestions. If you like a certain style that I have made but would like a different color I would be more than happy to recreate it for you as long as the beads are available of course. My Jewelry has become my art, I sketch it out the way a sculptor would I plan on how to use the different elements and I sometimes have to try a few times before I get just the design that I want. Since these pieces are so important to me I am also very aware of the quality and durability. I am always keeping an eye on and considering the different conditions that the pieces may be going thru and developing ways for durability and strength.

Having said that, things do happen, especially to jewelry so I have a six month policy on all my jewelry. If the piece breaks or a part is lost I will offer you three choices, you can send the parts back to me and if possible I will make you a new one, you can send the parts back to me and pick out a new necklace at a comparable price or you can get a full refund of your money, all I ask is that you send me back the remainder of the piece so I can learn from it. Of course in all of these cases I will pay for shipping. I want your experience with Be Girly to get great and fun and I just want you to enjoy this jewelry as much as I do.
