We are currently getting ready to move to Okinawa, Japan this summer. Time has come... We will be leaving soon - how soon : the movers are coming on 7/13/07. We are packing everything but the beads and will end our ebay auctions/store items 18 days before our departure. The ebay store will be closing on 7/2/07 to leave time for receiving the payments and shipping the beads.
As of today (6/19/07) we have made a big step forward - we have actual travel orders (it only took from the end of April until today), a date for the movers to come (7/13/07) and our plane tickets for 7/20/07. Everything is on the roll and we are big time packing. My husband claims we still have everything we ever bought in our 17 years of marriage...... and he is in Japan..... So here I am weeding out - one pile for Japan, one pile for storage, one pile for trash and one pile for yardsale/donations..... But at least I know, it will be over soon!!!!
So we are trying to pass some of our bead stash (lots of Czech glass beads and Japanese seed beads) on. We can only take 4000 lbs of household goods and we definetly have to down seize or pay 3 years worth the storage fees ....
Currently we are in Colorado. The picture of Pikes Peak is from our front yard, but it is time to change the view after almost 11 years. From this to the Hawaii of Asia.... No more snow! After all Japan is the home of some great seed beads and as every beader knows, one can bead almost anywhere!!! Thankfully there is always ebay and mail order!
The second picture is of braclet called a Picketed fence. It was in one of the beading magazines a few years back. This project and others have brought the idea of selling mixed bead lots to mind. So here we are making all sorts of mixes. There will be a lot more mixes coming. Any suggestions? Please let me know at beadsz@msn.com! I am always open for new ideas...
If you have been to our store before, you might have noticed all the new beads I am listing (I did not know, I had so many beads!). There are plenty more to come. I have started on the Vintage German Glass beads, but there are many more to come....
We are direct importer of Czech beads: by that I mean we visit the Czech Republic and the factories ourselves and pick the beads out. It is a dusty, dirty (not a place to wear good clothes too) and very time consuming, but well worth it. One never knows what one might find...some beads are unsusual, some are ordinary. The trip itself is always an adventure, because none of us speak any Czech and something always happens: piles of snow (litterly mountains of snow on very narrow curvy roads with lots of Semis and delivery trucks as company - they scared even me and I live in Colordo and learned how to drive in the mountains of Europe..), another trip included a traffic accident with someone that did not speak anything but Czech... and finally getting pulled over by the polish police with mashine guns less than a mile away from the Czech border to name some of the most exciting/mind-ratteling events. Those were probably the worst parts, the best are the people, the beads, the beautiful countryside and the wonderful food. I am not sure, if I can manage to get over there from Japan, but I will try, because I love the beads and the trips which always include visits to my family in Austria, Germany and France.
