Hi! My name is Cathy (also called "Chici" all my life). I am a long time, baby boomer aged Florida resident. I think I qualify for the "crazy cat lady" category since I now have 4 feline companions, Buzz and Felix have now been joined by Homer and Mama. They share my "fixer-upper" home with me. My son Ryan is now 27. I work a "real job" at a floral shoppe as I attempt to be (sooner or later) self-sufficient doing the things that I REALLY love: painting, sewing and "JUNKING". My friends just shake their heads and scoff when I drag the newest treasure home (my pickup is always untidy and looking like Sanford & Sons). But, its just that they can't see the potential in a chair with ratty upholstery, or a torn vintage lampshade with great curvy lines, or just the SHELL of what was once a lamp shade. I've always been a sucker for orphans and down-on-their-lucks and this even includes the cast-off items that others leave on the curb. I'm the sucker at the yard sales and flea markets that buys the beautiful plate with the big chip in it that no one else will touch, because I know it can still be useful for "something". I think in my first life I must have lived during the depression when many had so little, so you had to make do with what you had.

With all of that said as a preface, I like to paint ("road kill" as I refer to it or "side-a-the-roads"). I also buy interesting used items that I feel warrant a new life and would look good painted. I enjoy painting flowers, so that is usually the theme you will see on most of my painted items.

I have most recently begun creating one-of-a-kind vintage furniture pieces incorporating my painting with "pique assiette" (the French term for broken china mosaic).

I also love making custom pillows using vintage fabrics, lace and textiles. I've been sewing since I was six and collecting linens for the majority of my life, so some of them are like old friends that I have trouble parting with. I take them out from time to time, sorting through them, imagining how they would look this way or that. I've kept them for years knowing that eventually I would know exactly how they should be incorporated into a lovely new keepsake.

I've been using the name "The Bees Knees" for the past 20 or so years in my sewing and crafting business and created "beesbuzzby" when I registered on ebay. I have always been fascinated by the idustrious wee bee and I'm in total awe of this buzzing little creature that God has created. Plant flowers - nix the spray! We've got to save our vanishing bees!!! Our planet depends on them.

I am a member of the ebay group P.E.P. and feel honored to be a part of this caring, giving group of individuals. Hope you'll follow the thread to all of our members listings for wonderful items.
