She is the reason I started eBaying.
Hello, my name is Martin , (AKA) benefits4oru . I started selling on eBay about 6 years ago for fun. I enjoyed it, and made enough money to buy things that I saw on eBay....seems redundant!!!! But how many of you have done the same. My wife Rhonda and I have a blended family and have been married for 9 years now June of 2005. Together we have 7 children, their names are Nathan, Natalie, Marty, Anthony, Victoria, Jeremy & last but not least Alexis! Born in 2003, she was the greatest gift God could ever give me. She is my only biological girl child. But sometimes having your hearts desire fulfilled, has a price.
Alexis was born with G.E.R.D (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease) & Dysphagia (infants who aspirate milk into the lungs) and Reactive Airway Disease. The first 4 days of her life she spent in Neo Natal Care after which she was sent home with us. We kept noticing that during feedings she would get very fussy and always seemed to be crying and that she kept having a very surprised or desperate look on her face every time she ate. At her 1 week check up we told her Dr. and she ordered a swallow study done.

It was revealed that she would aspirate during feedings without any choking, gaging or coughing. With the absence of the cough & gag reflex the Dr.'s decided in order for her to survive she would need to have a G-Tube placed into her stomach for all of her feeding & nutrition. A G-Tube is a tube that is surgically placed into the stomach, a feeding pump or syringe is the placed into the tube to feed the child until they are able to swallow with out taking anything into the lungs and they must be able to cough or gag to get it out of their lungs.

It's been tough on the rest of us, but my other children have come through with flying colors. Helping out when ever & with what ever is needed. Mom had an in home daycare that she had to close down, it seems that even though my daughter may appear normal, many normal things like a common cold could be life threatening for her.
She contracted a cold when my wife had the daycare. That night we had to rush her to the hospital where they had to put her on a ventilator and take over her breathing before she stopped breathing on her own. She was in Pediatric Intensive care for 4 long days. I swear those were the longest days of my life! She was finally able to breath on her own and come home. It was then my wife decided to shut down her daycare and take a job as a waitress to help make ends meet.

She is 18 months old now and is doing very well, not cured but progressing each day. She has a Nurse on duty , and a team of therapists (speech, occupational & and a case worker) that visit twice a month.
We still do what we can but for the most part we all seem to enjoy staying home and taking care of Alexis. Even my son Marty, God love him!!! He REALLY does enjoy taking care of his baby sister so that mom and I can have a moment to breath. He has really made me proud!
All of the children have contributed in one way or another, and its for all the reasons above that I started doing eBay again. So that one day I can take them all on a trip somewhere.....you see they all share the same dream!! They all want to get on an airplane and go some where cool. And I can't think of a better way to reward them for being such terrific and loving children....
