Hi, I'm the proud mom of two wonderful "kids". Makayla is 2 and is every bit of it, but she's my reason to get up each day. Joey, actually PFC Joseph, was the light of my life. Joey was in the army and the sweetest kid anyone ever met. His smile made me smile and his goofy laugh was the very best! He was on the list to go to Iraq to support a Marine unit over there and had just returned home from a three week bout of combat field training. We took him out to eat on Sunday, July 30, 2006 because he was scheduled to go back for another weeks training the following day. That next day I got a call from him asking me to come get him because they were going to let him spend his last week of training at our local Armory doing inventory. We chatted, listened to his new CD, and he slept on the ride home. I dropped him off at his apartment and told him to get some rest, come see me, and that I loved him. Wednesday morning at 8 am (Aug. 2, 2006) Joey was riding in the back seat resting while his fiancé drove her dad to an appointment. From the right a car blew through a stop sign and plowed into the side of her car so hard it spun the car around one and a half times. The car impacted the door where my baby was setting. Her bumper came through the door and hit Joey in the side, shattering the ribs on his right side, collapsing his lung, and causing his liver to explode. They rushed him to the local hospital and after being unable to control the bleeding, airlifted him to a trauma center in Chicago. Joey died there at 1:30 am on Thursday, Aug. 3, 2006.

His passing has left me hollow, since he was my son and my best friend. I know I will never be the same but I will go on because he would want me to.
I love you, my Bud, and I will miss you every moment of my life.
Thanks for listening.
UPDATE:
After almost 2 years of getting my life back on track my husband has divorced me for another woman. Much younger and much blonder than I.
I'm working it out and plan to not give up, for my little girl..... and because Joey wouldn't want me to.
Thank you to all my Ebay friends for your support! |
