Who we are...
Thank you for visiting "The New-Old-Stock 'NOS' Bicycle Shop" (formerly known as "The Bicyclist's Retreat"). We decided to change our name, because we are in the midst of a significant expansion of our product offerings, with a focus on new-old-stock "NOS" bicycle frames, components and accessories. We are not experts in any one area and we will be the first to admit that we do not have the decades of experience of others in the business (and we have so much respect for those that do have such experience), but we are extremely conscientious in that we do our best to thoroughly research and accurately describe the products that we offer for sale. Thanks for visiting our store.
Our pledge...
This store is a full-time commitment for our family, and following our move to a new location (to a larger warehouse space), we plan on continuing to expand the depth and breadth of product offerings. We still consider ourselves a small "hands-on" shop that prides itself on admirable customer service and support, but we also want to become a more complete store with a better variety of new-old-stock product offerings. This means we will continue our efforts to locate product through our growing network of friends and colleagues around the world. We will also do our best to maintain reasonable pricing, charge a fair amount for shipping and respond timely to your questions and requests. Having said this, please understand the new-old-stock environment continues to evolve...with the falling value of the US dollar relative to other currencies and dwindling supply of many new-old-stock parts...our costs will generally increase for the same vintage parts from year-to-year. We will still negotiate the best pricing we can and acquire as much stock as is available to us, but please understand the very nature and uniqueness of each wholesale deal sometimes results in some unconventional retail pricing policies. We will do our best to answer any questions you have regarding any of our above comments and we collectively thank you again for taking an interest in our story and for viewing those items that we have for sale and up for auction.
The purpose of the store...
We opened this store because we believe cyclists on a modest budget are interested in good deals on new-old-stock and used, but functional bicycle frames, components and accessories. We understand there are constant changes in bicycle components and accessories, but there still exists a genuine demand for good quality new-old-stock parts to keep "yesterday's bikes" on the road. We also sympathize that packaging and delivery cost for certain inexpensive items can turn a good deal into something that is very average. To this end, we will do our very best to bring new-old-stock products to market at an affordable price, while being sensitive to our fees to deliver such products to your door.
We will do our best to put new items up for auction and to list new items in our store on a regular basis. Most of these items have been acquired from bicycle store close-outs and going-out-of-business sales, live auctions and other liquidation events and vendor/distributor bulk purchases and wholesale lots (in other words, just about anywhere we are able to get our hands on good quality bicycling components, accessories, etc.). We are also extremely excited to anounce that we will be importing a number of new-old-stock items that have been "collecting dust" over in Europe and making such items available in our store. These recent developments, along with our pending move to a new (and much larger) warehouse in the Spring/Summer of 2006, should make for some very interesting and challenging times as we attempt to expand our product offerings to you, our customer. For these reasons, we ask for your patience and continued support as we attempt to bring you quality bicycling products at a fair and reasonable price.
