Hi, I`m BigDaddyDeJay,

I`m 57 years of age and retired with 32 1/2 years with the Mississippi Department of Transportation. I was a Certified Tech. and worked mostly in survey partys as an instrument man. I have a degree in Drafting and Design with a minor in Art.

I`ve always loved to draw and paint starting at a young age when Jon Gnagy used to come on the old black and white t.v. each day. I started collecting the original Aurora Famous Monsters when they first came out. I traded a school friend 100 comic books for a built Creature and Mummy. I was hooked forever then! Each birthday and Christmas I asked for another one. Being the oldest of 4 children with a stay at home Mother, money was really scarce in those days. My Dad was employed as a carpenter and had steady work for about 9 months a year. Winter was always slow. We raised our own garden and meat which was suplimented with hunting and fishing. We were always warm, fed and clean but didn`t have alot of other things and toys the better off kids did. I grew up knowing how to make an honest dollar and to always honor your word. When school was out in the fall we picked cotton to buy new school clothes. Daddy told me if I could find a job I wouldn`t have to pick anymore and thats when I started working washing dishes at a restraunt. I was 13 and the ladies paid me 50 cents per hour and all I could eat. The second day they raised my wages to 75 cents per hour and I had to BUY what I ate.LOL!!

I could draw fairly well in elementary school which made me a little more popular with the kids. They were always wanting some monster or FINK drawn on the notebooks and I was happy to oblige. I loved Big Daddy Ed Roths style of monsters and learned to draw them all. I painted  finks on a couple of hot rods and race cars . I think one guy actually paid me $7.00 for 3 hours work. Mind you these were all painted with the only model brush I owned which cost a nickle and the Testors enamels in the 9 cent bottles. Yep...9 cents.

I`ve done about everykind of job there is. I`ve been a repo man- bouncer- debt collector- motel manager-carpenter- brick layer helper- worked as managers in Dairy Queen- Western Auto-and several Finance Companys. I married my Darling wife Miss Marsha in 1975 and we`re still together. We have a son Cody and my 4 y.o. grandson Lil Jase. He`s 4 and can already paint better than some on the "Pro painted" kits I see on EBay. I am also  very much overweight. So the name BigDaddy is well earned. I also like to do rendezvous of  the fur trade era. I also do scrimshaw.  I love to share my talent and abilities I have left with others. I`m real easy going but have no patients at all for those who mistreat little kids- older folks and those who are less fortunate than most.
