I am an old fashioned timber framer and stick to traditional methods using as many hand tools as time will allow. As an offshoot to my work I often come across old wood that is no longer used in the barns that I am repairing. This wood may very well be over 150 years old and arouses a whole host of questions as to who first cut it and when and what was happening in our country at the time. So a relatively innocent piece of wood suddenly becomes a time capsule a piece of history and I treat it with the honor it deserves.

Ok I hoard wood, but I do something with it and very often I re-create something from the period it came from. Mallets are my signature piece but lap desks, revolver stands, small tables, pen stands and recently tongue drums. My little black bear is burned on every piece I make, kind of a trademark.

I always endeavor to treat everyone I come across as I would like to be treated, with respect and patience. I have repeat customers and happy one off customers. I really prefer PayPal for payments and do not grudge them the fees that they charge for such a good service. Shipping and packaging are part of the service that is very important. So I pack well and get items shipped as soon as payments clear. USPS has been a very good service and their priority and flat rate box rates sometimes work out very well and put your item in your hands very efficiently.

Now and again we all incur problems, that is the time we are put to the test, some fail and some pass, I try to pass the test, in fact I try real hard.
