OUR BUSINESS PHILOSOPHY: We want to attract loyal collector and dealers, and offer special discounts to repeat buyers. We DO NOT SELL reproductions, and always guarantee our items 100%. We buy most of our our merchandise at estate sales, private contacts, and from resources that offer fresh merchandise directly from local estates. This ensures that the merchandise that we are offering is fresh to the market. Our specialty is 20th century paintings, original signed prints, vintage photographs, sculpture and folk art. We also offer quality antiques and objects related to 20th century design and designers. Our particular areas of interest are paintings and graphic work from 1920-1970 including established as well as recently discovered artists and designers. From examining our feedback, you'll see that our inventory is carefully and accurately represented. We do not enhance or "tweak" photographic representations of our merchandise in order to increase its appeal. We are keenly aware that success selling via the Internet depends on extremely accurate and detailed photographs and descriptions. When you purchase merchandise from us, it will be as promised, with the same colors, tonal values and contrast represented by our photographs. This is not just a promise but a guarantee. MISSION STATEMENT Blubear Galleries is a cooperative endeavor linking artists, researchers, scholars, collectors and dealers. We specialize in The Art of Discovery. We delight in making exciting new discoveries in the in the intertwining "fields" of art and design. Some of our material is already well researched, collected and preserved in the literature of Art. Much of it is unique, unresearched, and undocumented. We have positioned ourselves as active contribitors to the vangaurd of 20th and 21st Century Art and Design. The landscape of our culture is burgeoning with new and undiscovered works of artists, old and young, past and present. It is into this rich undisclosed archive that we strive to delve. We will bring the work of talented but oftentimes unrecorded and unrecognized artists to light in the coming years. It's a worthwhile goal, and serves to enrich our culture. We invite like you to share in this process of documentation and discovery. We are unique in that we research and record facts and insights about the art, design, and artists we promote, and thus create and preserve a record for posterity to decide which images are iconic, which artists do and will belong "to the ages." We also trade in the work of established artists and recognized areas of collecting. You'll notice there's not too much "hype" written to accompany our listings. A great work of art really should and does stand (or fall) on its own merits. For us, Art appeals primarily to the visual and visceral senses rather than the intellect. And no matter what nouns and adjectives we place into our catalog, words could never articulate it all. The image of Venus Sleeping is an apt gateway for our gallery.
