Q. What types of payment
do you accept?
A. For those inside the US: PayPal, any kind of money orders (BidPay/AuctionPayments, PayingFast, Western Union, Traveler Express, Postal, etc.), bank's checks, cashier's checks, and cash. I may also consider checks upon request.
For international bidders: PayPal, international money orders (drawn on US
dollars), BidPay/AuctionPayments, PayingFast money orders, and cash.
If sending cash, please make sure it's well-concealed and secure. I never have problem with buyers sending cash before, but a little carefulness doesn't hurt.
Q. How can I pay with Paypal??
A.
There is a Paypal button in my auction listings, which you can click on to make payment after auction ends.
Q. Do you
combine shipping?
A. Yes, I'll gladly combine shipping. If you win multiple items, please send email to let me know. I'll tell you how much combined shipping is, which should be lower than adding all the shipping together.
In case you win one but intend to bid on more, let me know and I can hold the item(s) for you, provided it's not too long. In case you're intending to bid on many more items or the items are not ending soon, I'd appreciate that you make a partial payment for those you've already won. That'll assure me that you're truly serious about paying in the end.
Note that you need to pay once for all items (as opposed to making multiple payments, one for each item) in order to have combined shipping.
Q. How fast do you
ship?
A. As my feedbacks
show, pretty fast. I ship within 48 hours of your payment, unless if it's Sunday or public holiday (then it'll be next business day of course). About 80% of my items are shipped next day or same day.
Q. I won your item (or I emailed you) but didn't receive a reply. Why??
A. The reason is always because either: a) Your email account is invalid, full, or disabled; or b) Your email server, or account, blocks my email. If the cause is the latter, you probably don't know and won't have any idea. (Some email servers block emails from my ISP for reasons I do not know. Recently I have a lot of problem with AOL emails, too). My suggestion in both cases is, get another free email account (hotmail, yahoo, etc.), and send from there.
Sometimes when this happens, it makes me feel very frustrated. My reply keeps bouncing back, and I have no way to tell these people: "Check your email account! It's FULL!" (or something like that). Therefore, if you emailed, and didn't see my reply, (or were expecting an email from me but didn't see one), make sure your account is still valid, not full, and ask your email administrator if your server blocks emails from my ISP (Prodigy). Chances are you'll find the explanation there.
By the way, you may wonder why some people can still send email if their registered eBay email is invalid. The reason is, they send through eBay (using "Ask Seller A Question" form). It's amazing how many people no longer maintain their email address with eBay, yet still bid, buy, ask questions, etc.
Q. Will this color
[insert name here] match my skin? Is it close to this color [insert name]? I'm
looking for a [dark/fair/light/etc] shade, what do you recommend?
A. For questions like
these, my answer is I'm sorry, but I can't tell you for sure. It's very
difficult to determine if something matches your skin, unless you test it on
(that's why cosmetics counters exist, isn't it?). Plus I'm not a makeup expert
and I can easily be wrong. My best advice is you can go to the websites: http://www.sephora.com, http://www.clinique.com
or http://www.esteelauder.com and
decide by yourself. Or visit any nearby cosmetics counter, you should find some
excellent advice there.
Q. How much is insurance in the U.S.? Should I pay for insurance?
A. Insurance in the U.S. is $1.30 (but can be more if end price is more than $50). If your item's end price is $20 or more and you're concerned about lost packages, then insurance is for you. Otherwise, I highly recommend the trackable Delivery Confirmation (DC) as an alternative to insurance. With the DC tracking number, you'll have peace of mind by knowing where your package is.
Usually if the item is insured, I'll buy the official USPS (United States Postal Service) insurance. However, if the amount involved is too low, I may self-insure at my discretion. This is because the post office actually charges some money when you file (about $5-7/claim), so, say, if we buy insurance for an item under $10, it doesn't make any economical sense. (Note: per USPS rules, you can only file claim for the net end price, not the shipping). In cases where I self-insure, the way it works and the paperwork involved are still the same (as the USPS). The only difference is that I'll provide the compensation instead of the postal service. (For more on this, see the myth about insurance).
Q. I am an international buyer. Can I bid on your auction? How much is shipping?
A. Most of my auctions are open to international bidders.
In fact, I have a few (international) sales every week. At the time I'm updating this (mid-April 2003) I have had over 160 international transactions, usually without any major problems. The biggest problem I have so far is non-paying bidders (which comes to show these do not only live in the U.S.). So no matter where you're from, please make sure you are serious about buying. Another thing I would like to stress is that if you're from a non-English-speaking country, please make sure you read and understand the description in addition to looking at pictures. It is very frustrating having to explain over and over what has already been said in the listing.
For international shipping, my preferred method is AirMail (LetterPost), which balances between low cost and not-too-slow delivery. Global Priority or Global Express will cost much higher. Surface/Economy may cost less for heavy items (1 lb and up), but the item(s) take a long time to arrive. Shipping cost varies greatly from country to country, please email me for a quote. Generally speaking, shipping to Canada should only be slightly more than U.S. shipping, while shipping to other countries can be much higher. Please note the higher rate is determined by the USPS, and not by me. (Often, the overseas bidder bids, wins, then when told about shipping, goes deadbeat. As I can't stress this hard enough, if you're shipping-conscious, please ask before you bid). I'm pretty certain my international shipping is among the lowest in eBay for identical item(s), by the way. (If you're in doubt, just ask, preferably before bidding).
Q. I live in another country. How much is insurance?
A. The US Postal Service does not provide insurance for the method I usually ship (Airmail Letter Post). They do provide insurance for other methods: Global Express, ParcelPost, etc. These methods usually cost more to ship, or take longer to arrive. Please note that the higher cost is charged by the USPS and not determined by me. If you have questions, please email before bidding.
Q. What's it like to buy from you?
A. I sometimes buy from eBay too, and I understand the importance of knowing what's going on. Apart from the End-Of-Auction notification email, if you do pay, I'll always send a Shipping Notice to acknowledge your payment and to let you know when the item is shipped. In many cases, it'll also include how long you should expect the item to arrive. I usually ship on the day specified, and in some rare occasion when that can't be done, I'll let you know. (Some sellers mean a few weeks when they say "will ship tomorrow"). All packages from me has an Auction Receipt with every details about the transaction (so you know which one it is). Most of my buyers probably don't care much, but if you're a seller of a lot of items, I'm sure you'll be impressed.
Generally speaking, if you read and follow the item description, there should be no problem at all. My past negative experiences as a seller have always been because the buyer did not read the description. For example, California residents who refuse to pay sales tax, overseas buyers who balk at the shipping cost, or those who complain about item size when the size is clearly described in the description. Remember, if you read and follow the item description, you'll be fine.
About shipping: I love to delight my buyers with impressively fast delivery. On many occasions, the item arrives only 2-3 days after the auction ends. Of course, the buyer paying fast plays a part too, but you need not worry if you didn't pay fast enough. I don't "punish" late-paying buyers like some other sellers do. All payments are treated equally, so if they come at the same time, the items will be shipped at the same time.
However, that is in case the buyer does pay. I hope and pray that all those who bid on my auctions are serious about buying and paying. I spend a lot of time and money to prepare and list, and even more time to follow-up on my auctions. Each wasted transaction eats into my time, my pocket and my sanity.
Many non-payers attempt to buy time with all sorts of delaying tactics. It's very frustrating trying to accommodate these people, and they keep lying and lying until they explode with expletives! And all that for an under $10 item! In the end, it'll go nowhere anyway. I always file for non-paying bidder and leave negative feedback on non-paid-for items. It's not much, but it does help a little: about 40% of my non-payers are already unregistered from eBay (and I hope the rest will be, too, one day).
So, to make it short: if your bid wins, PLEASE PAY. You'll save us both a lot of troubles.
Q. How often do you leave feedback? Can you leave feedback for me?
A. Feedback is a rather touchy issue. If you've had your share of unfair feedback, you'll know what I mean. Ideally, I'd love to give everyone glowing feedback the moment payment is received. Unfortunately, a few thoughtless souls spoil the world for everyone else. Nowadays I usually leave feedback once I receive words the item has safely arrived and everything is alright. I also happen to believe that the fastest way to receive a feedback, is to give one. I leave feedbacks in batch once every few days, so if you've done everything I said here, you'll get yours eventually.
