About the Auction
The sea-salted winds blow through your hair
as the regatta of racers tear through the
water in three days of riveting, powerful
water sport. And that just the view from
the beach. Imagine the view from onboard.
The BMW ORACLE Racing team invites all who
are ready to compete in the thrill of
sailing for the Cup to participate in the
public auctioning for the spot of its 18th
man on the yacht. This opportunity will
bring you all the way to Valencia, Spain,
for the Louis Vuitton Cup Semi-Finals on May
18, 2007. If the team advances, you race
again . . . you will have the
opportunity to participate again for the
oldest trophy in international sport, the
America's Cup Finals on June 29, 2007.
For Charity
Although racing for the Cup is an exciting
cause, your bid will go toward a much more
important one. 100% of your winning bid will
be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure
vision of a world without breast cancer. The
organization will in turn allocate 100% of
the donation to the local Komen for the Cure
Affiliate in your area*. BMW has helped
raise more than $10 million for Susan G.
Komen for the Cure to invest in its work to
discover the causes of breast cancer and,
ultimately, its cures.
*If the winning bid is in an area where
Komen does not have an Affiliate, Komen
Headquarters will utilize the funds for its
national efforts.

Girard-Perregaux 18th Man Team Watch
It is a well-known fact that each member of
the BMW ORACLE Racing Sailing Team has a
personal crew number. For example, Chris
Dickson is number 11.
Girard-Perregaux
dedicates to each crew member a Special
Edition watch uniquely engraved with each
crew number on the back cover. This special
series of watch was produced with the number
8engraved on the back for the team
member that gets to experience the thrill
and the privilege of being the 18th man in
the competition. This year Girard-Perregaux
is dedicating an R&D Chronograph to the 18th
man, featuring a GP automatic mechanical
movement, steel case and vulcanized natural
rubber bracelet, which will certainly be on
proud display on the wrists of those lucky
few.
Louis Vuitton Cup
Every sailor dreams of winning the America's
Cup. But before you can compete for the
oldest international sporting trophy in the
world, you have to earn the right. Only one
challenger can take on the defending
champion and make their dreams come true.
The winner of the Louis Vuitton Cup goes on
to compete against defending champion
Alinghi in the America Cup Finals, which
starts on June 23, 2007.
Valencia, Spain
The contest for the most coveted silver
trophy returns to Europe for the first time
since 1851. The heart of the 32nd edition of
the America Cup beats in Valencia. The
capital of the Comunidad Valenciana has been
the home of BMW ORACLE Racing since summer
2004. Valencia Mediterranean climate means
that temperatures in the winter rarely fall
below 10 degrees, and summer months are
pleasantly warm. The wide range of sporting
activities and the buzzing nightlife make it
a fun place to be. At the same time,
Valencia is one of the most dynamic,
economically strong cities in Spain which,
in turn, has one of the strongest economies
in Europe.
IMPORTANT NOTE: All experiences are
contingent upon BMW ORACLE Racing team
standing and can not be guaranteed. |
