I collect comics and e-Bay is where I buy them- I may buy a lot for 1 book, or upgrade a comic I already own. Perhaps I'll decide I don't need to keep a certain title any more. Whatever... whenever I accumulate a stack of nice books to auction off, up they'll go. My grading is conservative and I value your business. I buy as much as anyone- I know how I like to be treated and that's how I'll treat you, so you can't go wrong bidding on my auctions!
Shipping
My flat rate domestic shipping speaks for itself. No tricks, here's the honest truth: I want your bid. If you can get 20 items for the same shipping price as 1, I think you may go ahead and do a little window shopping. It also keeps things easy for me. I'm a regular guy with a full-time job and 2 young children. Anything that makes this easier makes this, uh... easier.
That said, I will ship your books by any method you prefer, including pony express. You just have to let me know what you want, and I'll do it for cost plus a $1, rounded up to the nearest $. Fair enough?
I take a meager .50c handling on overseas shipping. I know it's expensive to acquire books when you live in Australia, and I want your bid. So flat-rate global priority, for which the USPS charges $11.00, will cost you $12.00. That'll safely accommodate up to about 12 books; a couple less if you want a bit more cardboard security, a couple more if they are readers and I remove some backing boards. I'm flexible, your call. Oh, and if you only win one or two books, I can ship those air-mail for a couple of bucks less... up to you.
Grading:
I'm one of the strictest graders on e-Bay. I want you to be pleased when you open your package. You'll find many "better than advertised" comments in my feedback. I am not THE STRICTEST GRADER IN THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE. That's a great way give books away on e-Bay. I'm being honest here. Many buyers over-pay for books just because the seller SAYS it's a NM, when you can clearly see from the picture that it's not even close. Those of us that grade fairly take our hits on some great books because of all of the over-graded crap people have bought from bad sellers. I have many return customers, most of whom are experienced, high feedback buyers. This says it all, I think.
Of course there have been a few buyers (out of thousands) who were not pleased with my grading. I happily refunded their money, including shipping. I will do the same for you.
I began collecting comic books when I was 10. Although I'd purchased the odd book here and there, it was the Captain America Red Skull/Cosmic Cube arc in CA #s 115-119 that really got me hooked. After that I started mainlining comics, and I built up a pretty formidable collection (had every Marvel silver title 1 up except for FF #1 and Spidey #1)... which I promptly sold when I hit high school and needed cash for, uh... other pursuits.
Skip forward 20 years. I'm bored, cruising e-Bay one night, when suddenly the insidious thought drifts into my brain; "I wonder if anyone sells comic books on e-Bay?" Well, one maxed out credit card later I'm sitting on the start of another prodigious collection, and the bright idea to become a comic seller myself to fund said collection formulates in my pea-brain. And here we are. I'm still into silver super-hero and have pretty nice high condition runs of most of my old favorites, and plenty of other stuff besides. Kurt Schaffengerger's "Lois Lane" run is something I wouldn't have glanced at then... it's one of my faves now (try to put together a high grade run of THOSE! It's one of my most prized runs). I like to window shop and will pretty much buy anything that catches my eye, most of which I'll sell at a loss a year or two later. Oh well. So it goes.
I juggle precious time between my wife and kids, directing community theater, my god-forsaken day job (they offer high pay and great benefits to buy my soul... DAMN THEM!), and my comics.
