About the Artist:
Gary Bolyer is a full-time, professional artist and is represented by leading New York City art dealers. His award-winning paintings have been shown and sold in galleries both nationally and internationally for almost twenty years. His work was recently selected by the prestigious Art in Embassies Program sponsored by the U.S. Department of State in Washington D.C. Through this program his paintings were chosen to decorate the U.S. Embassy in Uzbekistan, Russia. Ambassador and Mrs. John Herbst personally selected Bolyer's paintings for their ambassadorial residence. They are natives of Long Island and chose works in bright colors depicting scenes of urban and rural New York. Bolyer's work belongs in many private collections in the United States, Canada and abroad. His work is sold primarily through fine art dealers at retail prices. He has studied landscape and portrait painting at The Art Students' League of New York. He now makes in home in northwest Louisiana, where he maintains a working studio.
ARTIST STATEMENT
I paint in a representational and impressionistic style. Taking my cue from nature, I utilize a variety of mediums, hoping to bring out the myriad shapes, forms and colors that I see around me. My work is most often painted "Plein Air" (created on-site outdoors) using broad, sweeping brush strokes. Through my art, I express my love of the natural world.
