Do what you love, that has become the mantra in my life these days, I mean, really, you go around once! I have developed a love of many forms of artwork, and enjoy creating in several mediums.
I have a great love of animals and nature, and that translates well in my river rock portrait paintings. I discovered the Asian art of chinese brushpainting and studied with a master painter here locally in that discipline and have taken what I have learned and expanded that into my style of oriental art, sometimes in the traditional sense on rice paper, sometimes in inks and watercolor on watercolor canvas, sometimes in oils on canvas, which gives that style a unique look. I also do still life work in oils on canvas and enjoy employing some of the techniques of the old masters. Oh yes, and drawing in graphite and painting in pastels...have I left anything out??
I do many studies of the feline, and my style ranges from the realistic to the impressionistic to the purely imaginative. I take inspiration from my own crew of cats, I have quite the full household as I also work as a part-time veterinary technician. I love caring for all creatures with whom we share this earth, I think we have much to learn from them, and they have so much love to share with us, and each is unique and special in their own way. I am always looking to capture a bit of each animal's spirit in my paintings, and when someone says to me "that painting reminds me of a cat I used to have", it makes my day.
