Awareness Gifts by JDunford Creating is a gift I inherited from my mother, Billie Elliott, deceased 12/14/81.  She started me, at the age of 5, assembling 500 piece puzzles which taught me patience.  From there she taught me to sew at age 9 and precision was instilled.  She taught me a variety of trades and I can never thank her enough for these priceless gifts! My daughter-in-law, Cindy Lewis, requested an item for a Breast Cancer Awareness event in 2006, and she was the spark for the Awareness Gifts store.  I have received numerous emails of appreciation for items that visually speak of awareness for cancers, causes, and diseases that people don't like talking about.  These 'thanks' are my motivation to continue producing and creating Awareness Gifts.  I see them as a silent reminder that with constant awareness, we can one day conquer! I am also an award winning artist with recognition in oil, acrylic and most recently, encaustic (painting with molten, natural beeswax).  Some of my gallery exhibits include Rauch Gallery, Schiele Museum, Gaston County Museum, Southern Arts Society, Beam Art Gallery, and Gaston College to name a few. My paintings and works have been purchased by local businesses and individuals around the world but especially the Carolinas and West Virginia, my home state for 35 years.
