| As an avid non-traditional book lover, it has always been my goal to have my own library, consisting of favorite authors, classic literature, non-romance oriented novels from authors who know how to write--because there is a difference. Popular best-selling writers who write to make money are seldom in the exceptional category. A writer like Stephen King, who should, most definitely, branch out from horror to other subject matter, is a superb writer, one of the very best in 21st century authors. Why? He knows how to describe details so that readers feel right there in the middle of the action. Readers feel involved instead of feeling like bystanders, viewing the action from a distance. He knows how to tell a story, informing the reader of every thought, every detail, every surrounding event that adds to the depth of the story so that the reader is pulled in, grabbed by the throat, if you will, and shaken--forced to pay attention. That, dear reader, is a unique talent. |

| Often, I have wanted to be able to tell him--face to face--that he need not limit himself to horror. No matter the subject, readers who like his style will buy his books. For example, remember John Grisham's "The Painted House?" The story had nothing to do with lawyers or current trends, but it did tell an interesting story, didn't it? What did you like about the book?
