I feel like a seasoned eBay seller now that I have my own ebay store, Shopaholic-and-Sister. I have been buying and selling on eBay and have had some really great experiences. I have also had some unfortunate experiences, and I needed those to help me in my selling process.
When I am buying on eBay, I look for listings that sound positive. When I see a listing that devotes an entire paragraph to non-paying bidders and leaving negative feedback, I immediately go to the next listing. Anything negative in a listing really raises a red flag for me and tells me that I do not want to do business with that seller. Buying and selling on ebay is based on TRUST and putting that trust in total strangers. I do not automatically trust someone whose listing contains negative comments with lots of exclamation points. I love helping new eBayers who are buying for the first time and I encourage them to call me if they are having any difficulty at all. eBay encourages phone calls to settle disputes and I think that is a good practice whether it is settling a dispute or helping a new eBayer with a purchase or a sale. I have had the good fortune of communicating with several eBayers who were so willing to help me when I first started selling, and I know that I can call on them for assistance when I need their particular area of expertise. I have made several purchases from one eBayer who has been extremely helpful to me in collecting signed first edition books. I knew that I could count on her when I started to sell signed books. She was willing to give her time to me so that I did not misrepresent anything in my listings. We write each other frequently and I know that it will continue because she is my eBay BUD now. Most people who are experts in a particular field are ready and willing to provide information that will help another seller, and I find that amazing considering that we are all strangers to each other. We all have one thing in common and that is eBay. For some, that is enough to be a very giving person to another eBayer.
