ABOUT BRAZIL OPAL

Hello, Thank you for visiting our site.  My wife, Francinete and I (Gary) are proud to offer some of the most beautiful opal from Brazil in quantity and quality for the first time in over 30 years through eBay auctions and our eBay store.  We are located deep within the heart of Brazil in the small town of Pedro Segundo where we own a home and our brother Jr. The finest artisan in town (first two pictures below) has a jewelry workshop. There are aproximately. 7 different mining sites producing a variety of both crystal and white based opal within a 20k area. The opal found here is the only opal mined in all of Brazil and is second to none in all the world. A little over 30 years ago was the last big production of opal to come from Brazil and since then this town and its incredible variety of opal has been lost to but a few old timers. Australian opal, which you can view in our eBay store and auctions is aproximatly 80% of the worlds source. Brazilian opal is not only a rare treat which many of you never knew to exist due to it being sold as high quality Australian Andamooka material but is also known to be harder than most Australian opal and less likely to crack or craze. The variety which comes from our little town is some of the finest opal I have ever seen. There are many miners who we have come to know, and the opals they offer after many hours of digging and cutting and the time to build this website are know available to you for the first time in over 30 years. I have kept from becoming involved with any mine operations fopr the fact it hurts the wellfare of the community of miners. I try to purchase my rough from different sources to help all miners and not a single organization. There is only one mine owned independantly. The other mines work on a % basis where the miner gives 20% of his sales and is allowed to work the land. This creates a unique situation with most miners selling their own goods.
