A British Car Buff!

Toy ones and real ones!

I've been a car nut since I was very little. I collect toy cars, especially Matchbox and Corgi toys. I am especially fond of British cars, for reasons I can't identify but which no doubt indicate serious personality deficiencies. I own close to thirty real cars as well, the majority of which are British. I have three Rover 2000TC's, a Rover 2000SC, two Rover 3500S's, a Rover P5 3-Liter Coupe, and four Rover P4's (two 1960 100's,a 1952 75, and a 1951 75 "Cyclops" I imported from Australia). I also have a couple of Hillman Minxes, a 1949 and a 1959 model, an English Ford Mk II Cortina, and a Jensen Interceptor. I'm not completely Anglo-centric, though. I have two German cars - a 1993 400SEL and 1997 Audi A8, which are more or less our daily drivers. France is represented by my totally cool Citroen SM, an early Peugeot 504, two Peugeot 404 wagons, and a Renault Dauphine which I don't have running yet but which has only 10,000 original miles. The original owner was an eccentric old B-movie actress who bought it new, but parked it permanently a year or so later after having a dream that she died in it. I also have a beautiful small-bumper Fiat 124 Spider which has travelled nearly 375,000 miles, a huge old barge of a Chrysler Imperial, a big ugly Dodge D350 cargo van, and a Geo Metro which is my other daily driver and which gets me to and from work every day. I live in Ben Lomond, California, and work as an accounting manager in the high-tech industry in nearby Silicon Valley. Ben Lomond is in the mountains north of Santa Cruz, and is nice antidote to the busy and crowded Silicon Valley environment though it's only forty-five minutes away during rush hour. Homes are somewhat cheaper here as well, probably because commuting means driving over the dreaded Highway 17 which intimidates people who aren't used to it. So here I can afford someplace with enough room for all my cars!
