Greetings ~ and welcome to our ABOUT US page!!! Because this is a family run business and one person could not do it all!!! It started out as a way for me to be able to stay home with the little one and not have to go back to work full-time...well that sure didn't turn out as planned. We quickly outgrew the rec room, the pool table was full, the mail lady had to back her car up to the garage with deliveries and there were boxes of books all over the floor. We moved everything into the finished lower level of a commercial office building that we own on the town square in historic Danville, Indiana. So now, we transact most of our business from there.
Everyone in our family loves to read, so this is the perfect business for all of us. When hubby and I met, we were both reading the same John Jakes series ~ must be fate. For me, the funnest part is what I call The Thrill of the Chase ~ finding all of these great books at bargain prices. We go to warehouse sales, book shows, shop online, save books from the shredder (can you believe that publishers actually SHRED books) and as we have grown, we buy from many publishers just like the big guys do.
Each member of the family has their own area of responsiblility ~ hubby is Vice President of Merchandise Movement (he wanted a title so I gave him one) ~ he is in charge of shipping and moving the boxes that I can''t pick up. Our 22 year-old stepdaughter manages all of the series books, keeps spreadsheets on inventory, places and checks in orders and has an opinion on most titles (she has a degree in education). The 24 year-old stepson pretty much stays away ~ can't say as I blame him ~ everytime he comes in we have him move boxes of books ~ and books can be very heavy!!! The last time the mailman brought a delivery, he said "Your boxes of lead bars are here!" The six-year old loves to stick the shipping labels on the packages. So if your label is a bit crooked and when you look at it, you think.....IT LOOKS LIKE A SIX-YEAR OLD PUT THIS LABEL ON THE PACKAGE....chances are pretty good that a six-year old did put the label on. And I do everything else.
We take great pride in our customer service and packaging. Our motto is Under Promise ~ Over Deliver. We hope that you will be pleasantly surprised by the quality of the product that you receive. We guarantee that our packaging will be much better than that of most ebay sellers. We stock nine sizes of bubble wrap envelopes, two sizes of bubble wrap, packing peanuts and twelve sizes of corrugated boxes. Most of our shipping materials are recyclable and we hope that you would dispose of them in an appropriate way. We usually ship within two business days from receipt of payment. And all shipments to the US are sent via paypal/us postal service with barcoded labels that just seem to zip right through the post office.
I am online almost every day off and on M-F from 10-5 CST and then again later at night after I get everyone else to bed. The weekends are kinda hit or miss ~ that's family time ~ so don't expect an immediate response on friday, saturday or sunday ~ but, I will respond just as soon as I can.
We are planning to do a YOU TUBE video tour of the Bookworm Boutique in the very near future. Of course that would mean that you would see our all of our wacky shelving systems ~ some bought ~ some built ~ some rescued from the trash ~ have you ever tried to explain to a four-year old why it is okay to to take plastic shelves from a neighbors trash set out on the street and it is not considered stealing??? It's not an easy thing to do!!!
We also sell at a couple of local bookstores on consignment and we always set up a booth at the Mannsfield Covered Bridge Festival in October.
Ebay is a great place to find wonderful bargains and hard-to-find titles. We hope that you have a great shopping experience.
