Greetings from the Green Mountain state!
From the Champlain Islands in northwestern Vermont, my family and I enjoy running two ventures under the DBA, Vermont Cyber Cottage. I spent 18 years managing museum collections; I've since transferred those skills (packing fragile artwork, documenting and photographing priceless artifacts, tracking detailed object info in custom spreadsheets, etc.) into eBaying my own collected treasures from our "cyber cottage" home! Connecting with the eBay community is definitely part of the appeal for me, as I enjoy meeting such a diversity of people online and participating in this amazing global -- yet democratic -- marketplace. I've been eBaying since 2002, and it all started with a few exploratory searches for tulip motifs (for my husband, who grows unusual varieties in abundance on the shores of Lake Champlain). I found those tulip items, alright -- and a cyber-universe of collecting opportunities! Japanese flower frogs, Gouda pottery from Holland, English Art Nouveau tiles, Arts & Crafts linens, and hammered and anodized aluminum are just a few areas in which I collect. What fun it is to meet other collectors and entrepreneurs on eBay as I hunt for those elusive items!
At this point, though, a good many treasures have got to go -- we need more space! So...it's time to "deaccession" (as we say in the museum biz). Our loss could be your gain!
