Dianne Ulery is an Artist who finds Beauty that others overlook.

I was born and raised in Southeast Louisiana at the mouth of the Mississippy River with the Gulf of Mexico at my back door. My dad fished for gar to eat when I was a child. They were everywhere in the waters we lived near. At that time, I did not realize just how special gar really are. Since then, I have created a unique art form using the normally wasted, ivory-like scales of the prehistoric alligator gar. I hope to convey my love of nature in my choice of materials and designs. Each piece of my jewelry is signed and dated and very unique. No two pieces are ever alike.
In 2005 I had surgery & treatments for breast cancer. Then Hurricane Katrina washed away all our possessions. Your purchase of our jewelry is helping us to rebuild our lives.
We have been working with gar scales for over 20 years. We clean the scales that fishermen give us. We dye, paint, drill and carve the hard enamel scales to make jewelry that will last a lifetime. Some of the better-known places our jewelry has been available are Jazz Fest (Folk Art tent), Epcot Center (Living Sea gift shop), Bass Pro (The Gallery) in Springfield, MO., Natchez Steamboat, Audubon Zootique and many fine gift shops and Art & Craft Shows.
