Hello, my name is Lynne M. Ashby. The M is for Martin, which in cajun territory is sometimes pronounced, Maw-tan', except the 'n' is sort of silent. I don't have any blood relatives living up here in Shreveport, La. All my kin live in the southernist parts of south Louisiana. I have a husband, 3 sons and 3 grandchildren.
I was raised in Gueydan, La

I can remember as young as 1st grade or 2nd grade, I was drawing with pencil. I drew with pencil til I reached my teens, drawing figures and fashion. I was able to attend college on my dad's GI bill, and I took 1 semester in Art, but dropped out because I was lonely and money was tight. I was also discouraged because the professor said only 1% would make it in Art, so I figured that I would be in the 99%. I didn't pick up a pencil or paintbrush til over 25 years later. I decided to try art again and here I am 4 years later painting with inspiration from the life I had down in south Louisiana.
