Back to previous page  California Fly Shop Our company, California Fly Shop, started over 17 years ago as a small store called The Caddis and for many years it served the needs of anglers in the San Francisco Bay Area. In 2005 the business changed hands and the new owners envisioned to build a larger scale operation - one better suited to meet the demands of a highly competitive retail environment. In 2006 the company name was changed to California Fly Shop and the new store was built alongside the 101 freeway corridor, halfway between San Francisco and San Jose. Located in the city of San Carlos, the store resides in an area that is fast becoming a hub for the outdoor industry with major retailers such as REI, GolfSmith and Runner’s World located within walking distance. Conceptualized by its owners, Xavier and Karen Carbonnet and designed by Tommaso Latini from the prestigious architectural firm Gensler, California Fly Shop is a unique fly fishing specialty store. With its library, media room, travel center and fly tying center, the store has evolved to meet the needs and demands of a very diverse clientele that fish the waters of the world. In this day and age we find customers ever more in need of professionals to help guide them to make educated decisions.
