Here at Georgetown Frame Shoppe, our goal is to offer rare original lithographs, etchings, pochoirs and linocuts at under market value prices. Many art galleries located in New York, California, Hawaii, London, Paris and Munich, have gorgeous, spacious galleries. When you buy art from them, you are also paying for their high rents and operating costs. Our gallery, located in Washington, DC, is lovely (and we encourage you to visit). However, the rent for our modest store front in a historic, privately owned building in Georgetown is minimal. This is one of many ways we keep our prices low.
Georgetown Frame Shoppe sells lots of art and works on small margins. We do not inflate prices with sales commission. Unlike other galleries, we do not "mark up to mark down". We do not have "50% off sales" because we offer great deals everyday. We pride ourselves on acquiring and selling fine art at exceptional values.
At Georgetown Frame Shoppe we concentrate on the masters of modern and contemporary art. Our twenty years of experience has given us access to private collections around the world and our selective focus and extensive experience allows us a great level of expertise. We are passionate about the works of art we sell, and the histories, techniques, and stories behind them.
We personally authenticate all of our artwork. We practice a policy of full disclosure. Our clients can be sure they know exactly what they are buying. With all art purchases we issue a Certificate of Authenticity. This Certificate contains detailed information about the artwork, such as the medium, printer, publisher, and edition size. We also provide our clients with copies of the pages in the Catalogue Raisonne referencing the particular work.
As our name suggests, The Georgetown Frame Shoppe is also a state of the art frame shop. We handle precious and delicate artwork everyday with the utmost care. We do not source out our framing. All of the work is done on the premises to ensure the superior quality of the materials and craftsmanship.

Animation Sensations (Georgetown Frame Shoppe sister company) is an animation art gallery in business since 1989, selling rare vintage animation production cels, storyboards, layouts, original drawings, and original hand painted cels on airbrushed Courvoisier backgrounds. Gallery Owner: Peter Bortz
Peter Bortz opened Georgetown Frame Shoppe in 1989 after receiving a BA in
economics at the University of Maryland in 1986. As he had always had a great
appreciation for and interest in art, it came naturally for him to combine
his keen sense of the art market and its direction with his ability to find
beautiful original works of art. Since Peter Bortz opened Georgetown Frame
Shoppe in 1989, the company has evolved to not only encompass the wacky and
fun world of rare vintage animation art and custom picture framing, but to
house a miraculous body of modern and contemporary prints from around the
world. As gallery owner, Peter Bortz is involved in the daily operation of
the gallery to ensure its high level of customer service as well as traveling
extensively to meet with some of the most well known and reputable art dealers
and auction house personnel to source artwork at a good value so he can offer
it to you, our clients, at the best price. Through Peter Bortz's insight and
passion, Georgetown Frame Shoppe now also provides professional art restoration
and art installation services. Georgetown Frame Shoppe also has an EBay store
with fantastic deals. Creating a gallery that is trustworthy, reliable, and
exciting to visit has been the focus of his energy since he began. Georgetown

Darcy Buckley joined the Georgetown Frame Shoppe team in Fall 2007. She brings her enthusiasm for art and design, as well as her savvy business stylings and computer skills to the Gallery. A native Washingtonian, Darcy received her BA from Georgetown University with majors in Studio Art and English.

Jessica Mensch joined Georgetown Frame Shoppe in 2004. Working closely with Peter Bortz, she
concentrated on developing the Georgetown Frame Shoppe's virtual representation.
In view of the expanding role of the internet in today's society, Jessica
Mensch believes that taking part in this phenomenon is a must for any gallery
wanting to be involved in the flourishing modern and contemporary art market.
Refund Policy:Here at Georgetown Frame Shoppe, we realize that buying art through the internet can be a risky experience. For this reason, we issue a Certificate of Authenticity with every work of art purchased, guaranteeing the authenticity of the art for life. Our gallery also has an extensive collection of catalogue raisonne that serve to identify works of art as authentic. For our clients, we will include a copy of these documents with the artwork. Georgetown Frame Shoppe also guarantees to refund our clients (minus the shipping fee and any ebay fees) within seven days of arrival, no questions asked, if the work of art arrives and he/she is unsatisfied with their purchase. This refund does not apply to special orders.
Shipping & Handling:
We ship worldwide. For anywhere in the U.S. we ship using Fed Ex ground fully insured. The cost of shipping is dependent on the value and size of each individual work of art.

We accept most major credit cards and money orders. Checks will require clearance before merchandise is sent. We also accept Paypal through ebay.
