JOHN56COWAN
How are ya? Where are you from? How can I help? My relatives in Cowansville, the Cowans and the McClays, each ran stores. My uncle was the Postmaster and ran a general store, too. It was a Cloverleaf store. He sold gas, too, Sinclair. I remember the sign. I guess being a merchant and running a store is a family tradition. I want you to be able to leave with a package in your hand and a good feeling about what you've bought. I can even bargain with you on the fixed price items. That's the tradition.
MY START
I started collecting sports cards in 1953. I lived out in the country and the guys would gather at the local store and pitch cards. They were the 1953 Topps, and they've always been a favorite of mine. I liked the Bowman cards, too, especially the TV series. The Bowman gum was a superior confection. It's been a journey since that time for me, but that was the start. My young emotions rose and fell with the successes and failures of the Pirates and the Steelers. There is always growth and achievement, change and development. It's a process, being a champion and being a winner.
