Casper91701: My Dad's Collection

The inventory listed in the Casper Poster Stamp store belonged to my late Father. The blurry photo at the top of my pages is Dad at a stamp show. Daddy was always a collector: records, books, stamps. I remember as a child sitting at the formica and chrome kitchen table going through a pile of pennies as he showed me how to find the different types to fit into my blue penny album. I remember the children's stamp collecting book he gave me.
While stamp collecting didn't take off for me, it was always one of Dad's passions. When my Dad and Step-Mother both were able to retire in the 1970s, they decided it would be fun to start buying and selling stamps. Daddy really liked Christmas Seals. Mary liked stamps with ships. But they found lots of other interesting items to add to the collection.
They continued to buy and sell until Mary's death in 1981. Dad just couldn't go on alone. He had a habit of waking up very early and found working with the stamps a pleasant way to start the day. He spent the next several years of his life organizing and valuing the collection. He didn't have time to finish. I lost Dad in 1993.
After not touching the collection for nearly ten years, I decided to start offering pieces on eBay. Both as a way to help with finances, but also as an opportunity to share the joy Dad and Mary had in their collection.
I've always been drawn to paper collectibles, too. Dad gave me several albums based on my interests over the years. And as I go through Dad's collection, I've found items I will keep. But there is still much more.

As an aside, I wasn't sure when I started on eBay what to use as a handle. My cat Casper was sitting nearby, so Casper it became!
