Cathy's Compo Doll Restoration and Sales

What I Do

 We are a doll hospital specializing in the repair and restoration of composition dolls. I also sell a few dolls here on eBay so be sure and check out my auctions and eBay Store. A brief explanation of what we do if the doll is to be totally restored. First the doll is disassembled including removing the eyes, teeth/tongue and wig. Then ALL of the old paint is removed, right down to the composition. It is then sanded, sealed and repainted. If the doll has crackled or blown glassene eyes the irises are replaced so it will have clear eyes. Eyelashes are filled in when needed. Lastly the eyes are reset, the tongue/teeth put back in, the wig glued back on and the doll is restrung. If the doll was made of compo and cloth, the old filling is removed and the cloth body is washed and repaired before refilling it. Removing the old paint is critical to a good restoration. If properly done you can then keep all of the fine definition in places like the hands, feet and mfg marks.
