Building and
repairing computers is my passion. Unfortunately, millions of
computers are thrown away every year. These are perfectly good machines that
are hauled to the dump every day while thousands of people with
disabilities, schools, churches and nonprofit organizations struggle along
with aging equipment or do without computers entirely. So I decided to build a new kind of store that could offer quality new and used hardware and software, with excellent customer service at the lowest possible prices, by using the economies of an internet based business. Not having to maintain an expensive showroom stocked with salespeople means that I can supply you with the best products at the lowest prices possible. We believe that everyone has a responsibility to help make the world a better place. By providing quality used hardware and affordable or free software, we hope to make a positive, if small contribution. Our pledge to each and every customer:
After spending years as a computer tech trying to master the dark arts of Windoze and OS X, I heard about something called open source software. The more I learned, the more I understood why so many people embraced it so passionately. I discovered that the Open Source Software Initiative promotes software reliability and QA by supporting independent peer review and rapid evolution of source code. I also learned that closed systems created a false sense of security; they made it harder for good guys to find security holes and fix them and to distribute the fixes when a hole is discovered. On the other hand, open source systems were generally much more security-safe than their closed-source counterparts. |
