GREETINGS TO ALL YOU LOVERS OF OLD THINGS
Long before Rachel and Laura became household names, I have enjoyed acquiring old things and making them new again. This passion of mine actually began when I was 12 years old and saw the old Doris Day movie "Calamity Jane". As I watched Calam and Katy turn the shabby old cabin into a thing of beauty, I was immediately transformed into a fixer-upper...although it took me another 15 years to actually get started.
I enjoy estate sales and auctions and am always on the hunt for a yardsale. I usually find 'something' I can't live without. Of course, letting it go is still the hardest thing for me to do - since I rarely buy anything I don't absolutely adore. However, my house will only hold so much---and my garage is already full of treasures! So I began a little antique business called "CHABBY SHIC". Now, many of my 'great finds' are in need of a new home! I hope as you look over my offerings, you will find something that grabs at your heart - and I trust it will give you as much joy as finding it has given me. Some of my items are new...but many of my offerings are in gently loved, reworked condition. I hope you will see the beauty in them that I did and they will find a special place in your home!
The hand-painted items you will find on my auctions are my own designs. Painting is a talent left untapped in me until I was in my thirties, and lovingly cultivated by my mom. When I told her I couldn't...she told me I could (which is just like her...)and she made me quite mindful that....
WE ARE NEVER TOO OLD TO LEARN SOMETHING NEW...Thank you, Mom, for your quiet encouragment throughout my life....You're my HERO!!!
I have been married to Greg, (my favorite old thing...)for 29 years. Our lives have been richly blessed with five beautiful & talented children. As parents, we have learned so much about 'unconditional love'. They have helped me understand the love my Heavenly Father has for me - in spite of my imperfections.
2008 was an interesting year! After years of working in the corporate world, I accepted the position of principal at a private Christian academy in our community. What a blessing it has been to know that I am exactly where God wants me - and that He is using me. The opportunity I have to minister to children all day long is just incredible!!! Along with this life-changing experience, I am also enjoying all the excitement that comes with being a new MOTHER-IN-LAW and a GRANDMOTHER! Our son, John, and his wife, Rebecca, married in April of 2007 and presented us with our FIRST grand-child, John "Christian", on March 13th of this year (His daddy's birthday!). On April 5th our youngest daughter, Cathrine, became the wife of our new 'son', Josh! And if that wasn't enough excitement, on May 31st, our eldest daughter, April, walked down the aisle and tied the knot with our other new 'son', Philip. (I wouldn't recommend two wedding in seven weeks to anyone ~~~)But we have been overwhelmed with happiness for each of our children and have the added peace knowing that these precious additions to our family not only love their 'life partners' but also love and serve the Lord. God is SO GOOD!
I thank Him daily for the gift of His son, JESUS. I asked Him into my heart when I was very young. Of course, I didn't realize, then, just how much that decision would impact the rest of my life. The journey hasn't always been an easy one - and I've certainly had to face some difficult moments along the way - but He has been there 'Through It ALL' (sometimes carrying me in His arms when I didn't think I could go on).....and like the old song says,"...If I'd never had a problem,I'd never know that HE could solve them,I'd never know what faith in God could do!"To simply tell you "I love Him" doesn't even come close to expressing the way that I feel.
My dad would often remind me that 'Every good and perfect thing in my life has come from the Lord'. It is so very true. I know there is no way I will ever be able to repay Him for the gift of His son or for the blessings He has given me. I can do no less than to try and live every day of my life in PRAISE and THANKS to HIM...
It is my prayer that each of you will be able to experience His AMAZING GRACE & LOVE for yourselves. Knowing HIM has made all the difference!!!Thank you so much for your business. It is appreciated more than you will ever know. Have a blessed day!!!John 3:16
