Book Condition
Most of my books came from a used book seller who went out of business over twelve years ago. Unless otherwised noted, books will have a small price sticker, usually on the first blank page. Some may have book plates, or prices written in pencil. Others may have a used bookstore stamp on the first or second page. Books are described as accurately as possible. Damage is noted in the above description, so please read carefully before you bid. Books described as being in excellent, good, average, or poor condition are evaluated using the following criteria:
Excellent Like new condition. Binding is tight, pages are slick or crisp. If a dustjacket is present,it has a minimal amount of curling and scratches, and is usually still glossy. For the most part, the book looks to be unread.
Good The binding is tight and there are no loose, torn, or missing pages. The page edges may show signs of use--bent corners, worn edges, smudges. The covers are clean and show a minimal amount of shelfwear. For the most part, the book has clearly been read and will show small signs of use.
Average or Acceptable The binding is tight, but the spine may have some sway. Page edges are worn, pages may have spotting or be dusty or yellowed from age. The covers might be lightly soiled, and the cover edges may show heavier signs of wear. Still readable, the integrity of the binding is good, but the book has clearly been read and handled a lot.
Poor These are usually older books that have been well-used. The covers may be loose, but intact. Spines are generally cracked, and unless noted, there are no loose, torn, or missing pages. Dustjackets may have tears and pages may be heavily yellowed and brittle with age.
