Everyone Needs a Jayne Hat!!!!

Hi and thanks so much for taking the time to view my store and reall all about me!!!

I've been knitting since I was about 10 years old - my fifth grade teacher, Mrs. Caster, taught our entire class how to knit as art lessons.  We made lots and lots of squares for patchwork blankets.  I loved it and with the encouragment of my teacher I knit a purple and pink stuffed alligator (which I still have).  No pattern, just verbal instructions from Mrs. Caster.  Fast forward 30 plus years and my son keeps asking me to watch this sci fi tv series with him.  In one episode, one character recieves a gift from him mom - a semi-ugly orange/gold knit hat.  My son says asks if I can make the hat.  One google search and one trip to the yarn store later, he's got his own semi-ugly hat.  Pictures are taken, friends become interested.  "Mom, you could sell those on eBay."   God bless the Hero of Canton!

Pretty Pretty Purses

Long before I ever knit a Jayne hat, I was knitting and crocheting lots and lots of items as gifts for friends.  Scarves, hats, baby blanets, the occasional sweater and tons of ponchos.  Never one to follow a pattern,  I've always styled my knitting to my own vision. 

Everytime I made and wore something new friends, family and co-workers all asked where I bought it and the idea for this business was born.  The name Yarn Candie comes from a comment a friend made at lunch one day looking at my first felted purse.  It was knit in a beautiful blue/purple colorway and she remarked that it looked like candy.
