Why Chico Bike & Board
One of our main goals with Chico Bike & Board is to educate as many people as possible about skating and bicycling so that they feel more empowered to make better and more informed decisions when exploring options. This website is intended to be a major tool for achieving that goal.
With that said let start with the first item on the agenda, "Why Chico Bike & Board?" Well, the main reason why is because we listen. In making it our policy to really listen to what your needs and wants are, we've learned a few things over the years. A partial list of what you've told us you want follows:
1. Low prices. The way I was raised was to always look for the best price. With 12 brothers and sisters, it was a matter of necessity to find the best prices for things when shopping. I take that with me when I shop the trade shows and distributors for merchandise to stock our store. By buying smart and keeping our overhead down, we're able to pass some sweet deals on to you our customers. The trick here is not to buy and get stuck with junk. We absolutely refuse to sell junk, it's a rip-off at any price. We will always have the lowest prices possible while still maintaining a high level of quality. We believe this to be the best choice in any case.
2. High quality. To us that means, durability, efficiency, practicality, reliability, innovation, ease of use, versatility, good warrantees and last but not least, it's got to look good! If lingis your thing, there's plenty of that too!
3. Fast, quality service. 95% of our repairs are done and ready for pick-up within 24 hours. We take great pride in this ability. We consider speed and quality of service to be our mantra. We haven't achieved this speed of service by cutting corners either. We've achieved it with the speed and certainty that only comes with decades of practical know-how, familiarity and competence. The number of times you go over something equates to your level of certainty, and when you've done it a thousand times before, you can make it look pretty easy.
4. Value. Add 1, 2, and 3 above and you get value. It is our policy to always give you more than what you'd expect. For instance, we offer free lifetime tune ups with every new bike you buy from us. We started this practice when we opened over 11 years ago and will continue to do so. Some shops charge as much as $100.00 each for tune ups.
5. Good selection. We try to stuff our store with as much merchandise as we can. We have easily the best selection of BMX and beach cruisers in town. We also have all kinds of Mountain bikes, comfort and road bikes. We even have adult trikes and sometimes recumbents in stock or only a couple of days away via special order. There are hundreds of bikes on our showroom floor and very rarely are there any duplicates. We also have the biggest selection of skateboards and related parts in town.
6. An inviting, friendly and comfortable atmosphere. You won't feel intimidated by pushy salespeople who talk over your head and act like you're a burden if you don't buy what they're selling fast enough. Our people are trained to listen and thus to help you find what you're looking for, even if it means referring you to another shop. If you're not sure of what might best suit your needs, we're here to give you enough information so that you can be.
7. An easy to get to location with plenty of parking. We're located at the corner of 9th St. and Main, downtown. You may not believe this, but there is always plenty of parking on 9th St.
