Watch out for falling books!
We're Art and Lydia -- actually Arthur Byron Cover and Lydia Marano Cover -- a couple of science fiction, fantasy, and horror readers and collectors who also happen to write, publish, and illustrate. (Art's the author of Autumn Angels and The Platypus of Doom, and Other Nihilists)
We opened Dangerous Visions -- L.A.'s sf bookstore -- back in 1981 and put it online in 1995. Always looking for new challenges, we founded Babbage Press in 1999 -- a specialty publishing house featuring books by John Shirley, David J. Schow, James P. Blaylock, George R.R. Martin, and Tim Powers ... just to name a few. (Lydia's the cover artist.)
Late in 2002 we closed up our beloved bricks and mortar shop and went virtual-only. Today we're known as readsf.com.
Our movie related items are mostly left-overs from past publicity campaigns and haven't seen the light of day in years. In fact, what used to be Lydia's office now looks more like a closet -- hence the name. Fortunately, she always wanted to be an archaeologist.
As time goes on there will be more books listed ... and pulps. There will also be non-sf magazines and magazine ads. Most of the stuff will be from our personal collections.
New auctions are posted every week so be sure to keep coming back. You wouldn't want to might miss out on that rare book or one-sheet you need to complete your collection ... right?
Just so you know -- that's Ripley in the photo -- ready for action; Bishop and Newt were hiding from the alien queen when the photo was taken; and Carmen Dog was catching a few zzzzs. Our cats stay home and prefer to remain anonymous.
