Seed Bead Information
Seed beads are made by cutting thin glass sticks of transparent or rich colors. Using various other manufacturing technologies, two cut beads, three cut beads, pipes, rocailles and bugle beads are the result. The natural effect of glass seed beads can be accentuated by various finishing technologies.
A size 9/0 hank is 10 temporary strings of 2.7 mm seed beads approximately 20 inches long that are looped to look like 20 strings that are 10 inches long. A hank of size 9/0 beads contains approximately 3,200 beads, is the equivalent to about 30 grams and has an average of 15 beads to the inch. This will vary slightly with each hank, but is a pretty good estimate.
A size 10/0 hank is 12 temporary strings of 2.3 mm seed beads approximately 20 inches long that are looped to look like 24 strings that are 10 inches long. A hank of size 10/0 beads contains approximately 3,920 beads, is the equivalent to about 42 grams and has an average of 16 beads to the inch. This will vary slightly with each hank, but is a pretty good estimate.
A size 11/0 hank is 12 temporary strings of 2.1 mm seed beads approximately 20 inches long that are looped to look like 24 strings that are 10 inches long. A hank of size 11/0 beads contains approximately 4,000 beads, is the equivalent to about 41.6 grams and has an average of 18 beads to the inch. This will vary slightly with each hank, but is a pretty good estimate.

A hank of size 12/0 beads contains approximately 4,720 beads, is the equivalent to about 30 grams and has an average of 20 beads to the inch. This will vary slightly with each hank, but is a pretty good estimate.
A size 13/0 hank is 12 temporary strings of 1.7 mm seed beads approximately 20 inches long that are looped to look like 24 strings that are 10 inches long. A hank of size 13/0 beads contains approximately 4,960 beads, is the equivalent to about 27 grams and has an average of 22 beads to the inch. This will vary slightly with each hank, but is a pretty good estimate.
A size 14/0 hank is 12 temporary strings of 1.6 mm seed beads approximately 20 inches long that are looped to look like 24 strings that are 10 inches long. A hank of size 14/0 beads contains approximately 5,100 beads, is the equivalent to about 22.72 grams and has an average of 23 beads to the inch. This will vary slightly with each hank, but is a pretty good estimate.
A size 15/0 hank is 12 temporary strings of 1.5 mm seed beads approximately 20 inches long that are looped to look like 24 strings that are 10 inches long. A hank of size 15/0 beads contains approximately 5,300 beads and is the equivalent to about 16.66 grams. This will vary slightly with each hank, but is a pretty good estimate.
A size 10/0 hank of 2 cut beads is 12 temporary strings of 2 mm seed beads approximately 20 inches long that are looped to look like 24 strings that are 10 inches long. A hank of size 10/0 2 cut beads contains approximately 3,300 beads, is the equivalent to about 36 grams and has an average of 13 beads to the inch. This will vary slightly with each hank, but is a pretty good estimate.
A size 11/0 hank of 2 cut beads is 12 temporary strings of 1.9 mm seed beads approximately 20 inches long that are looped to look like 24 strings that are 10 inches long. A hank of size 11/0 2 cut beads has approximately 3,550 beads, is the equivalent to about 33 grams and has an average of 14 beads to the inch. This will vary slightly with each hank, but is a pretty good estimate.
