What does Uplifting Treasures have to do with teddy bears and prison?

Uplifting Treasures is an ebay store that was created to sell both handmade and donated items to support ministry activities for Lakeshore Ministries, a 501(c)(3) registered charity.
Lakeshore Ministries does three things:
1) We provide teddy bears for children in homeless shelters, hospitalized children, and lonely seniors at nursing homes.
2) We do prison ministry in youth facilities, and men's and women's units. It's not just jailhouse religion; we do see lives changed by good people who made a bad choice and just want a chance to start over. We don't preach, we just love and encourage. . . .and we have seen miracles. The incarcerated teenagers are the saddest. Many have never know much love in their loves, and it is a wonderful experience to get to mentor them and provide that love to turn their lives around.
3) We provide aftercare services for men and women getting out of prison with no place to go. With only the clothes on the their backs, no money, no jobs, and no one to care for them, most won't make it and will return to prison. With a helping hand, we can change this cycle. We've seen the recidivism rate (the rate of return to prison) drop from 80% to 8% with aftercare services. Even years later, we are still in contact with many wonderful people who have succeeded in turning their lives around.
