We have been selling on E-BAY for a number of years. We really enjoy it! I really like the old, the unusual, the collectible and the vintage toys! Especially the types of things that were in daily use-the things that gave comfort and joy and that still do-like old toys and quilts or kitchen items-the bits of linen that adorned the backs of chairs or added a splash of color to the old wood tables. And so that is we sell-bits of this and that with a touch of memories thrown in!
We hope the following bits of information will help to explain how we do business!
About what we sell!
Most of what we sell is vintage! This means it is old, previously owned, used-often for many, many years! Please have reasonable expectations and Please expect wear consistent with age and use! FONT color=blue>
We do things a bit differently than some. A lot of the sellers of old/used items just list whatever they happen to find. We decide what items we want in our store and then find them. It means that we often pay more for the things that we sell. We do use the best offer option on some of our listings, but we are unable to go as low as some sellers can because of what we pay for things.
- We are always on the lookout for unusual and interesting items for our store and we try to list new items weekly-so please check back often to see what we've found!
Descriptions are often brief due to constraints on time and space. Things I consider to be expected of vintage items may not be mentioned or might be overlooked. Please ask if you need more specific information about a piece!
- examples of things I would consider normal to vintage items would be signs of age and use-small areas of thinning or worn fabric, wear to paint, scratches from use, light age discoloration, musty smell, etc. If any of these things concern you-Please ask! Also keep in mind that I NEVER list anything as mint condition. There is always a chance that I have missed something and I feel if an item has been used at all, or stored for a long period of time, it is no longer in minty, new condition.
also, please keep in mind that it would be difficult if not impossible to check and describe every inch of a large item (and very few people would take the time to read it)
- The items we sell come from a variety of places and are sold as they come to us-washing and repairs are left up to the buyer
We are not experts-please ask questions if you need additional information!
- To me, the value or worth of an item is determined by 2 things. 1.- what someone is willing to sell it for and 2. what someone is willing to pay for it. We determine the first when we set the reserve or set the BUY IT NOW price for our store listings. The buyer determines the second when they bid or purchase the item!
We have no way of knowing if the items we sell come from a smoke free environment or how they have been cared for!
RETURNS
We want our customers to be satisfied but returns are time consuming and costly-both for the buyer and seller! Please ask questions before you bid! Items are sold (as is-as found) We consider all sales final! Please remember that sometimes mistakes are made and if you feel there was an error in the listing, we will try to work something out! Please let us know within 2 weeks of receipt of item!
SHIPPING
Note to newer ebayers!
Please remember when rating the sellers that fair shipping cost refers to amount paid over actual shipping costs and shipping time refers to how long it took the seller to get the package to the shipper-not how long the package was in transit.
Please take a few minutes to check out the USPS site to learn about the actual cost of shipping these days. There has been so much publicity about excessive shipping charges, that many new buyers think everyone on e-bay does business that way. The only way to understand the difference is to learn what the actual cost of shipping is! Also remember that the box and packing materials can add up to 2 lbs to the shipping weight. And that the cost is based on weight, size, and distance. They have also recently started charging extra for larger packages. If the buyer and the seller both live in California the shipping cost for a particular item would be less than if purchased from someone in Georgia-3000 miles away!
An example of excessive shipping charges would be- a paperback book that would cost less than $2 to ship media or $5 to ship priority and the seller charges over $10 to ship. or items weighing a pound or less costing $15 to ship!
- We charge $1.00 handling fee to offset some of our expenses. We use the shipping calculator to figure the shipping cost and we will combine items whenever possible. If you puchase more than one item, use the request total link so that I can make sure the shipping cost has been adjusted.
Since the postal rate increase, we ship most items USPS parcel post. Items weighing a pound or less, ship priority or first class parcel.
- We ship most items USPS. We try to send heavier items Fedex or UPS and will need a street address for delivery
Everything is shipped out ASAP-within 5 days. Usually it is out within a day or two-please let me know if there is a rush! My husband works with the post office and is kind enough to take the packages when he goes to work. He is off on Wed and Thurs. so if item is paid for Tues eve it will probably be out on Friday.
INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS
International bidders pay actual shipping on auction items and must pay with paypal. International shipments are shipped priority-or if light enough and small enough-first class parcel-the postal service no longer offers airmail or economy parcel post
LISTINGS
We list new items in our store weekly and we try to have at least one Auction a month!
PAYMENT
Payments are to be made through PAYPAL
- We expect payment within 10 days of sale unless we have heard from you and other arrangements have been made
If you are combining items to save on shipping costs, it needs to be in one payment. just let me know when you are finished shopping and I will send an invoice with the adjusted shipping cost!
CORRESPONDENCE
Please put item number and e-bay name on all payments, e-mails, etc. This greatly reduces confusion!
Please allow sufficient time for us to answer. If possible, ask at least 24 hours before end of auction. Also, with all the fancy junk mail filters we have these days, sometimes your questions as well as my answers get filtered out! Please check your bulk mail folder. I do answer all of my e-mails so if you haven't heard back from me, pease ask again-I may not have received it.
FEEDBACK
We do feedbacks about once a month and we leave them after the buyer has left feedback for us. We do not consider a transaction final until the buyer has posted the feedback and we know that they are stisfied. We leave feedback for purchases when item is received.
- If there is a problem with the item received-please let us know BEFORE leaving feedback! We really try hard to satisfy our customers and we want everyone to be happy with their purchase.
We are honest sellers-we are also human and do make mistakes. Please give us the opportunity to make it right.
