Why Collect Old Things ?

 I've been fortune enough to live on the remaining lands of an early Pennsylvania settlement, the restoration of which has been all consuming physically & financially.

 Currently, we're modernizing our kitchen, in place of the earlier, primitive, farm cabinetry. The old cast iron waste line, that was mounted into the stone foundation (to suspend the toilet in mid air), was re-routed, and replaced, as well as copper water lines, and fixtures.

 The layers of paneling, linolium, other wallpaper, and [hand applied] plaster were ripped out, right down to the bare logs.

 Then, I wire brushed and water proofed the logs. Shims were replaced, wall studs were custom fit over the logs, and a double layer of insulation was applied. Several  electrical circuits were installed, walls have been replaced, and cabinets are mounted.

 We're currently saving up to remodel our [full] bathroom. In/around 1958, the bathroom was brought indoors and it hasn't been remodeled since.
