Welcome to the eclectic world of Me! Born in Norway and brought up in Canada, I am a man of many and varied interests.
In my working life I am a professional archaeologist and heritage planner, with research interests in Great Lakes region archaeology, zooarchaeology, aboriginal fisheries and bone tool technologies. I am also interested in the social history of the logging industry in Ontario, the history of shipbuilding on the Great Lakes, and of Ontario's railways.
However, the fact is that I really live for my family and my many hobbies. I am a passionate and thoroughly incurable collector of any number of different things, including stamps, coins, books and 'ephemera', rock and mineral specimens, as well as diecast cars, clay smoking pipes, and whatever else happens to take my fancy at any given time ...
My other interests include fishing, photography, sketching/drawing, shooting (air rifles and pistols), model ship building, model railways (HO and HOn30), and car racing of all types but especially stock car racing.
My Philatelic Interests: Wanna Trade?
I have collected the stamps of Denmark, Greenland, the Faeroe Islands, Danish West Indies, and Norway, since I was introduced to the hobby when I was 12.
In recent years I have given up trying to keep up with all the new issues and have instead concentrated on collecting the so-called "classic" issues of these and other countries, with an emphasis on the Danish "squares" (Scott #s 1-10) and numeral cancellations.
I have a large stock of pre-WWII stamps from Denmark, Norway, and Germany (almost all used) and am always interested in trading by mail. If you might be interested in trading, please contact me!
