I owe my job to eBay
I've been using eBay as a buyer and seller since 1998. Late in 1999, a seller offered an opportunity to pay over the Internet using a service called X.com. This was the predecessor to PayPal, the company I've worked for since April of 2000. Knowing and understanding the product helped me land a job with PayPal in customer service, where I answered our customers' emails and phone calls. From there, I moved into training employees on how to use the PayPal site.
In October of 2002, with eBay's acquisition of PayPal, I began traveling the U.S. (as well as stops in Canada and London) to educate our customers on the ways to get the most out of their PayPal accounts. I've had the opportunity to interact with thousands of eBay sellers and sellers-to-be and love every minute of it!
One of the best perks of my job is getting to hear first-hand how eBay and PayPal make a difference in the lives of our customers. If you've ever been to an eBay U or are coming to one, be sure to tell me about your success stories!
Plus, now I get to spread the word about PayPal with my weekly radio show available from the link below. It's live from 2-3 p.m. PST on Tuesdays, but the archives are available 24/7 from the website. And, with the podcasting option that's available, you can take me with you wherever your iPod or other MP3 player goes!
I sell on eBay several times a month to keep up with all of the latest and greatest features on eBay and PayPal, and also to clear out space in my large comic book and DVD collections. (Hey, I have to make new space for all of the goodies I keep finding on eBay!)
I have collected comic books for over 30 years, and currently have over 18,000 in my collection. That's not including the 3 bookshelves of comic-related paperbacks and graphic novels. It was filling in gaps in my own collection that led me to eBay in the first place.
I also have an extensive DVD collection, as I'm a fan of most types of movies, especially smaller independent movies that really show how creativity can be done on a budget.
In my spare time, which is pretty infrequent, my wife and I enjoy traveling and reading.
