Born in the Northeast United States, she grew up enjoying the great outdoors, and spent countless hours hiking, boating, swimming and enjoying area activities. She loved the variety of weather, and was as happy ice skating on a frozen pond as she was body surfing the waves at Long Island's Jones Beach. She loved going for long trail rides on horseback, or sailing a racing class boat on unpredictable Long Island Sound.
Her love of the changing seasons ranged easily from enjoyment of the crisp days of October with their breathtaking display of autumn leaves, to the delight of waking up to an overnight snowfall which had transformed familiar objects into a virtual wonderland of unusual shapes and mounds. She loved to hear the crunch of snow beneath her boots on a frigid January morning, but also enjoyed watching for the first returning Robin, examining the barren tree branches for signs of swelling buds, and searching the thawing grounds in March to see if the crocus and daffodils had poked their heads above the dwindling snow cover to announce the coming of Spring.
The theme of Pat's artwork has always been - The World Around Us. Pat feels that although we are surrounded by natural beauty, our lives are often so busy and stressed out, we don't take the time to notice it.
Pat lived in Florida for over 30 years, and every day she still marvels at the incredible beauty of its sunrises, sunsets and it's very colorful tropical flowers. And although many of her paintings reflect her experience with these colorful skies and flowers, she feels that her roots are still deep in the New England area, and this is shown in her paintings of the mountains, streams and woodland areas of the northeast, and from her current home in the Blue Ridge Mountain and Smoky Mountain areas of North Carolina and Tennessee.
She has also traveled extensively to our National Parks in Colorado, California and the Southwest, and along the Atlantic coastline, always making it a point to capture the landscape images that revealed the essence of each location. Little did she realize at the time what a wealth of reference material those photographs would provide for future paintings. Her goal as an artist is to try to recapture the beauty of these places on a variety of painted surfaces so she can share it with others.
Several of her collectors have told her that they like to hang her paintings in their homes and offices. Then, when life becomes unusually stressful, they look at one of her paintings, and it momentarily takes them out of their current situation to a more peaceful time, and they feel refreshed. She hopes her paintings will provide the same for you.
You can visit her online gallery of paintings at the link to her personal web page below.
Pat is a member of the Artists League of Orange County, (ALOC) a juried group of professional Central Florida artists who meet monthly to share ideas and learn new art techniques.
She is also a member of the Art League of Henderson County in North Carolina's Blue Ridge Mountains and several on-line miniature painting groups.
Paintings are done on stretched canvas, canvas panel, or, in the case of ACEO's, on mat board or canvas paper, and occasionally on wood surfaces. This too will be clearly stated in the item description.
